The Senate wasn’t done with vote-a-palooza today (boy are they motivated to get out of town). They passed by unanimous consent a child nutrition bill which would expand the school lunch program by $4.5 billion dollars. Incredibly, this is also paid for by cutting food stamp benefits, with the conceit that expanding nutrition for children would ameliorate family food budgets. Those luckie duckie poor people have had it too good for too long! Jill Richardson, who knows this bill backwards and forwards, calls it “flawed, primarily in its lack of funding for healthy school lunches

2. And the House has an $8 billion plan
that even Dennis Kucinich supports, and the two bills will have to be negotiated, per usual. There is a lot of good in these bills.

Does anybody know how to advocate for specifics instead of just constantly saying nothing but "more money".
