"Why has He Fallen Short?" (Frank Rich reviews Alter's Book on Obama's first 18 Months) Must Read!
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 05:54 PM by KoKo
I think Frank Rich's review of Alter's Book on Obama is so controversial that I will just give those who are interested the LINK:

http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2010/aug/19/wh...

I will say that the first part is Very Positive to what Obama has Accomplished and the latter part of the review points out PIT FALLS...that Progressives might be more interested in.

It is a bit of a long read...but then it's the WEEKEND! HURRAH! So, some DU'ers will have a couple of days to get through it. And our "Shift Workers" can take it spurts. Sadly so many of our UNEMPLOYED who still have internet access...will have much time to read it...and it's still and interesting read for them. I will note..one of the last read is about "sympathy." We all need to get to the end of the article to understand that one...especially ...."sympathy."

It's WELL WORTH THE READ ...for ALL DEMOCRATS...whatever kind of DEM you are. It covers the Landscape.

2. It's still an interesting read. Rich offers HOPE about how Obama can CHANGE IT...
The article is really worth the whole read. DU has Dems of all STRIPES, COLORS, Sexual and otherwise view points.

I thought it was very balanced in pointing out it all...and how Obama views the world and the people who elected him. Remember...Obama had lots of donations from the wealthy that overcome the "little people" like many of us. And, his view of the world is much more "nuanced" that we here on DU thought it would be.

Be sure you look for "sympathy" in the last part of Frank Rich's article.

4. Just remember this isn't a NYT's Editorial Post for Rich..it's NY REVIEW OF BOOKS...
I think you will find it very interesting, UNDER PANTS...you've been here longer than me ...or maybe about the same time you joined DU.. Whatever...I think it's fair and balanced as anything I've ever seen.

Enjoy your Coffee and ...gosh I love "Eggs Benedict" ...but can't find places who even know what it is or how to prepare them. :-(

5. Eggs Benedict are easy to make you know!
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 06:10 PM by FrenchieCat
All one needs is some English muffins,
with some cooked canadian bacon on them,
and on the way top; a couple of soft poached egg.

Add some Hollandaise sauce on top of all that,
and you're good to go.

Hollandaise sauce is an Egg yolk, lemon juice, butter and a bit of milk in a saucepan....
gradually add a little flour whipping the mixture the entire time
while slowly cooking it on a burner to solidify the sauce.
Add spice like salt and pepper to taste.

Thanks for the referral of the critique of the book on Obama.

6. I have this thread and the link
I am sure it is fair and balanced- that is why you never hear about Rich's columns on TV

7. "Underpants" ...there's so much we don't hear or see on TV that would be informative for us...
I gave up wondering about the same time the "Election of 2000" was stolen. At first I thought it would change...then as the years went by...gradually I gave up hope.

8. Like the birther Army officer who is going on trial
he didn't obey his orders because of the nonsense about the birth certificate...but he did what ever he was told under the un-elected Bush.

9. That was a complete and well thought out analysis of the administration
and I would have to believe of the book too.

Sounds like not much of a great read but then that probably makes it even more necessary to read.

Thanks for posting this.
