300 back at Ft. Bliss after advising Iraqi forces
FORT BLISS -- Screams of joy and signs reading "Welcome home daddy" greeted troops who stepped off an airplane and touched Fort Bliss soil for the first time in nine months.

About 300 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, returned from Iraq on Thursday afternoon.

The arrival came the day after the last designated U.S. combat soldiers left Iraq.

Family and friends waited eagerly in the arrival and departure facility while the soldiers checked in their weapons and equipment and underwent about an hour of health screenings and an initial debriefing
