Listening to Charlie Rose interview the president of BBC.
He has been saying that they make a conscious effort to make the news department very strong on the BBC. It is funded by a tax on every television set in the country. Also, the for profit networks in Britain have to provide 25% of their programming for public service. Astonishing. Our comparable public network does not even do that. Apparently a lot of their programming is not even available over here, even on PBS.
Murdock has mocked and threatened this fine man in charge of the BBC organization. Rose suggested he was jealous of the popularity of BBC. Excellent interview.
