An Open Letter to Juan Williams

Dear Juan,

Sorry to hear you got fired by National Public Radio for saying on Fox that you get nervous when you see Muslims on a plane with you. It was dumb to say such a thing, but I don't think saying one dumb thing should be a firing offense. (I DO think an NPR journalist wanting to take money from Fox News to be a regular commentator should be a firing offense, but that's another story).

But there's more to this -- and some important things that everyone is missing.

For instance, what you said about Faisal Shazad, the Pakistani immigrant who wanted to bomb Times Square. When he was being sentenced this month, he claimed, according to you, that his attempted attack was just "the first drop of blood." We can't let political correctness blind us to this, you explained.

I guess Shahzad made a big impression on you, because after being fired you went back on Fox and told them, "You can't ignore the fact what has recently been said in court with regard to 'this is the first drop of blood in a Muslim war against America.'"

2. Juan got what he wanted -- ATTENTION!! -- ohlookitme, I got fired. 20 million Americans yawned.
Michael's right, Juan is no journalist.
This wasn't pc, this was just plain ol' stoopidity.

Sean Hannity is no religious man, yet he preachs all the time.
O'Reilly is not a journalist either, but damn, he sure has a lot of opinions.
Beck is just a rodeo clown. He said so himself.

The only thing missing from Fox News now is Bozo, and that's because his daughter is a witch and she turned him into a regular person with her magical powers a few years ago, so they had to do with O'Reilly.

6. All that attention to Juan Williams and nothing to what the truth of
the statement was. Thanks MM. Also Williams hooplah took attention away from Clarence Thomas revelations. Nice timing that one...

8. it's in the record:
clarence thomas once said, in reply to a suggestion by aides that he would mellow out and be less extreme as time passed that, not only would he not mellow out, but indeed it would take him '43 years' - he was 43 when confirmed- 43 years to pay back the american people! Iow, he hated the american people, and wanted to hurt them, which he has done in triplicate!
see pg 360 of 'Strange Justice' by mayer/abramsen...
