Kucinich: American people have a right to know

Kucinich on WikiLeaks: ‘American people have a right to know’

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) responded to the WikiLeaks release on Friday with a statement saying, "We need a true accounting of the war in Iraq. The American people have a right to know how many innocent civilians were killed in a war based on lies."

"We must remember that the Iraqi people are still grieving over the loss of husbands, wives, sons and daughters who were innocent noncombatants," Kucinich stated. "We have a moral responsibility to acknowledge the massive loss to the people of Iraq and the world. ... The suffering of the Iraqi people is unfathomable."

Congress could use about 534 more Dennis Kucinich's.

1. We bought it, we own it, we have a right to know what it is.
Dennis right on the money. Yes, we could use about 534 more just like him, instead of the broken down crooked bastards we have, nearly without exception.

3. Did anyone here know that civilians died in Iraq, that most were killed by Iraqis but
that some were killed by American soldiers - many by accident but some on purpose. Did we know that Bush was right when he said Iran was actively engaged in attacking Americans, that Iraqi soldiers tortured prisoners and we didn't stop it all the time. Wikileaks provides details - but is it anything we really did not know?

6. Most of the excess deaths were caused by the invasion
If you die from diarrhea because the US blew up your water treatment plants, or from a heart attack because your hospital was blown up, then you are just as dead as if you had been shot. There was no religious civil war before the invasion either.

4. While I was serving in the USAF during the Vietnam era,
my job involved dealing with top secret codeword materials. I learned something then that I hadn't known before. Most government secrets are not secret to protect them from some potential "enemy." They are kept to keep them from being known by our own citizens. Since I was just in my early 20s, that surprised me somewhat. It no longer does.

Just like with the man who is having an affair with a co-worker, the secret is not kept so that other co-workers don't know, because they generally do. It's kept so his wife and family don't know. Same thing with secrets kept by the government.
