The Michael Moore Whirlwind (8 Letters)
To the Editor:
I'm tired of hearing how David Brooks is, or was, the liberals' favorite conservative. Too often, instead of using logic to make his case, Mr. Brooks resorts to rhetorical devices and sophistry.
In "All Hail Moore" (column, June 26), Mr. Brooks declares that liberals have turned from John Dewey, Reinhold Niebuhr and Martin Luther King Jr. to Michael Moore for intellectual and moral leadership. This is analogous to saying that Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter have replaced Edmund Burke and Milton Friedman as the conservatives' guiding lights. Or have they?

To the Editor:
I must say it's fun to watch as conservatives throw up their hands in horror and dismay as the one-man liberal attack machine scores points against them.
It seems not to occur to conservatives to look in the mirror: hordes of them have been practicing this art for years. They nearly brought down a president for a sexual indiscretion.
Michael Moore's target has devastated countless lives and squandered the material and moral treasure of America.
A taste of their own medicine, I'd say.
