Republicans to Stress DIVERSITY at their convention!
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-0308150295aug15,1,6399194.story?coll=chi-newslocal-hed

I apologize if this is a repeat, but it's so absurd that Boy George wants to stress diversity at his recoronation!

Once they find a black person, they'll move him around to every photo op, just like the move that John Deere tractor to every part of the Crawford compound!

1. ROFL!
Remember in 2000 when they had gay Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) speak and the Texas delegates started praying?

2. So, does this mean no crowd shots during the convention?
Somehow, I don't think that's going to be an option, 'less ChimpCo wants to abandon images of adoring throngs.

3. Oh that is SO UNFAIR!!
The GOP has brunettes and red-heads just like everyone else and they trat them just fine.
Even the blonds who got their hair color out of a bottle are not looked down upon.
Isn't that diverse enough for you?

Or are you one of those black-heads?

4. A story which I'll repeat
I went to the 2000 Hispanic Leadership Conference in Chicago and met up with an old friend who had brought some students from the university where he works (which I'll leave nameless, but it's probably easily guessed at from the rest of the stories). Said nameless university has a program that allows Mexican nationals accross the border to attend the university for just slightly higher than American fees so some of the students that came along with my friend were, in fact, Mexicans.

They told me that members of the Bush campaign team came to them and asked if they would be interested in attending a "non-partisan political event" in Pennsylvania so as to understand American politics better. They said yes since their transportation and lodging would be paid for. The non-partisan political event was the GOP national convention, and they were trotted up on stage for photo-ops with W's latino nephew George P. when it was time to showcase the Hispanic/Latino community's "support" for Bush. They realized they had been duped but played along because, hey... free trip.

That's pretty sad when our supposed-beloved-by-Hispanics/Latinos-President has to trick some into going on stage to show support.

6. Diversity tricks
Even before I read your post, I wondered whether they would have to round up a new crowd for the photo-ops. It would be interesting to track down the other diversity representatives from the last convention to hear their stories and find out what they think now. Too bad the media won't do it.

9. Unsurprising, if true
What Nixon did in Wategate is merely a tiny fraction of what the Busheviks currently perpetrate as a matter of course.

Only trouble it was the only job they could have. The GOP has reached the foolish stage. With Bush the head fool.

All 12 minority member will be paraded out in a grotesque and Nazi show.

Which is why a Bu$h*/Rethug photo-op is the kiss of death -- for programs like Head Start and Social Security, and for minorities, women, anybody but Rethugs.

12. Rove's Way with Words???
They stressed "Compassionate Conservative" for the last fiasco, and good little Cons bought it - of course they are compassionate and conserative - who could deny it???

They now will stress "Diversity." ???????? Now this one is going to be a little harder for the lil Cons to grasp.

Webster's definitions: Compassionate = having or showing comppassion;sympathetic.

Diversity = the condition of being different or having differences.

Their compassion, cut funding for Children's programs, benefits to military during time of war, medical care for all citizens, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.

Diversity for the Republicans means never having to disagree with whoever has been annointed for them as high Poo-Bah or to those that pull the strings of the annointed Poo-bah.

13. All hat and no cattle
There are words, photo-ops, and actions. When it comes to acting on behalf of minorities, I'm sure the GOP agenda will be similar to their clear sky and healthy forest initiatives -- sounds nice but acgieves exactly the opposite of what's advertized.

20. OK....stop it! My sides are hurting!
GOP Diversity....sure.

"Over here we have very, very rich white folk. Now, over there we have rich white folk. In the corner we have the upper-middle class white folk who we fooled into thinking that they would be rich one day."

Which convention was it that Comedy Central had Chris Rock covering? I remember a shot of him standing in a sea of white people with a very scared look on his face. He said something like, "I'm Chris Rock at the Republican National Convention and I'm the only black man here!"

25. Time to get professional here
Public people are fair game to identify, interview and check when it comes esepcially to false representation. When the gang riot in Florida was led and made up of GOP House staffers, only the outcry of viewers FORCED media people to identify the easily recognizeable trolls. The floating hecklers and GOP street theater troups imported in miserably few numbers across the country and full time internet posters, radio and TV call in poseurs are getting kind of familiar. Such stalwart public figures should eget their names featured in the Sunday Weeklies, their numbers, motivation and income sources exposed for the edification of those who admire GOP organization.

I mean, they would all be in jail if we could reveal the seceret memos, meetings and (dare I say it?) conspiracies of various kinds. But the public arena? Come on. That is not only fair game but demands easy and professional attention. Why lament after the fact that Latinos were duped and faked as standins for diversity at the last GOP Convention?

Expose it on the spot. Call them out. And watch for digital manipulation of virtual reality GOP.

"Creating a dilemma for a party that has trouble attracting minority support, the White House has told state Republican leaders to stress diversity in selecting delegates for President Bush's renomination next summer."

... the White House is encouraging an Affirmative Action Program for selection of delegates. :eyes:

28. There will be three "issues" for the coming campaign:
Peace.
Prosperity.

"Character".

We win on all three. The question is whether the Bush $300 million propaganda machine, combined with the fascist media will overcome those issues. Personally I don't think the Junta stands a chance.
