NY Daily News: Is W hiding something?

What's with the hump on President Bush's back?

There isn't a thimble-full of doubt that President Bush had "something foreign" under his suit jacket during the first two debates, master tailor Frank Shattuck concluded yesterday after studying photos.

"There's definitely something there, in between the shoulder blades," he said, checking pictures from both debates. "I can't say what it is, but it's not hidden very well."

Personally, I don't think its a "wire", because 1) today's technology wouldn't require that much bulk, and 2) if W was being fed answers, he'd have been a lot more coherent. My guess is that its part of a bullet-proff vest, which frankly doesn't make me feel a lot better; if Bush and his minions are afraid for his security in a room with a security-screened audience, a major network news correspondent, and the next President of the United States, how do they feel about the rest of the country?

2. He probably has food tasters too.
And once he is a private citizen, he will never have an unguarded moment again - literally.

I have no doubt he is motivated by hate, greed AND fear.

19. You mean food tasters like the Thai mouse?
http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/10-17-2003-46629.asp

By Guardian Newspapers, 10/17/2003

A humble mouse is to put its life on a plate for US president George Bush this weekend - acting as his official food taster to thwart any attempt at a bio-chemical assasination. The rodent is one of 10 selected by the authorities in Thailand, where Mr Bush is starting a four-day visit today, and will be served samples of food which the president will eat.

According to Thai officials, the mouse will nibble on Thai dishes and then be observed to see if it drops dead or suffers any ill effects.

The director-general of the health ministry's medical sciences department, Somsong Rakpao, said no chances could be taken when it comes to protecting the world's most powerful man. "We will collect samples of all the food and bring them to our labs," he said. "Some will be fed to the mice, some will be mixed into a clear solution and injected into their intraperitoneal cavity."

If there is a poison such as arsenic, the rodents, who are just "experimental mice and not from a special species", according to Mr Somsong, will die within seconds.

4. Bwah!
"This suit fits around the neck and has balance, even though it lacks zip and looks like something off the rack from Today's Man."

I LOVE IT!

17. Wow, TAILOR SMACKDOWN!!!!!!
You have to love it...I'll bet Georges de Paris is sputtering mad...but he should be, at weewee, for not allowing him to properly fit the suit WITH the offending 'added equipment.' I'm sure if he was given the item, he too could have tailored around it.

Talk about having your reputation sullied!!

6. There was a book written a while back about a guy running for president
who staged his own assassination attempt to increase his ratings with the public. He was shot in chest while wearing a bullet proof vest - the assassin (a Middle Eastern hitman) was told not to shoot him in the head because bullets do strange things when they hit the skull.

I realize it was fiction, but it's a nifty theory given bush's current approval numbers and the whole premise for his re-election.

7. pretty funny stuff!
"Then again, maybe all winking was at the guy feeding him information," Shattuck, 43, joked. "And he kept jumping off that stool like he just got an answer."

9. Any ideas what make of vest?
As a favor to my son, I took apart and washed the cover to his vest. There is no way it would leave a lump like bush had. The back is a solid piece from the waist to the neck. Any lumps would come from the side velcro straps.

11. You've got to wonder:
don't they realize this is becoming a huge story? The photo from the first debate showed Bush with some weird (or wired) lump on his back. THEN, on the 2nd debate, he shows up with ANOTHER bump which shows clearly through the back of his jacket, spurring rumours and laughter around the globe.

People are speculating that he's really a robot. Maybe a hologram? Why would they do something so stupid? Bush's people are so slick, so image-conscious. They'll spend hours primping and prissing over this p**ck, just to make the best impression. ALL style & no substance is their motto.

And they let this happen? Why?

13. Hasn't anyone here read
The Puppet Masters by Robert Heinlein? (Vastly better than the crappy movie made from the book)

In it, a race of aliens take over humans. They're in the form a parasitic slug-like thing that fastens itself on a person's upper back -- exactly where Bush's lump is, by the way. From that position it can place a probe to the spinal column and take over the brain. You're no longer in conscious control of what you do. Very good, very creepy, too bad they went for the gross-out and violence when the movie was made.

20. But that rectangular boxlike thingy doesn't look like a back brace unless
they've gone hi-tech in some way. Pictures I saw all looked defintely like something "electronic."

behavior pattern and debate performance much better than the "wired" speculation.

22. Physical courage not Bush's strong suit
A bullet proof vest?

I would not put it past W. My take is that, for all his swagger, physical courage is not his strong suit.

For example, on 9/11, I think a bolder man would have raised a higher profile and shared the nations risks that day and not have allowed himself to be whisked away into a bunker.

Especially him who is not one of the key thinkers on his team.

This is not a bitter post - it would have been a tragedy to lose the President that day (or any day) - it is just that I see him more centrally involved in marketing and sales than in the actual development of national strategy. In short - he could have taken a risk without a feeling of dereliction of duty.

Maybe he saw those photos of Kerry shooting a shotgun?

Peace,

Lighthouse

25. Unknown Object
The first thing that came to my mind was that it was a medical device. I was once saddled for with a machine that monitored my heart rate over a 30 hour period. Given the recent decision to delay his annual physical added to my suspicion that the item could have been a piece of DME.
