This is the fifth in a series of essays about Ann Coulter’s new best seller – How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter. Subsequent essays will be published on www.Whoslying.org
http://www.whoslying.org/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=634&Itemid=2 What is the essence of being liberal?
“The absolute conviction that there is one set of rules for you, and another, completely different set of rules for everyone else.” – Ann Coulter
In a remarkable case of projection – yet again – Coulter ascribes to the Left her very own behavior. Though quick to denounce liberal failings – or even to bear false witness against them – often Coulter is guilty of the very behavior she decries. For example:
Plagiarism. Coulter’s very first book plagiarized a colleague’s work, yet Coulter denied even knowing that colleague (see “The Plagiarism Trap”).
Jayson Blair. Human Events’ Legal Affairs Correspondence – Ann Coulter – is worthy of her very own Jayson Blair Ethics in Journalism Award (see “Jayson Blair & Ann Coulter” and “Jayson Blair Redux”).
Hate Speech. Demonization is Coulter’s forte; hate speech her favorite method of communication (see “Loathing of the Left”).
Rule of Law. Coulter instinctively dismisses or defends misbehavior from the Right (see “Ann Coulter – Proud to be a Hypocrite”).
National Conventions. Both GOP and DNC national conventions showcased speakers who are pro-abortion and pro-gay, yet Coulter only called one group the “spawn of Satan” (see “Coulter – Living Spoof of Conservatism” and “Hypocrisy at the GOP Convention”).
Premarital Sex. Coulter vilified the recently-deceased Pamela Harriman and the recently-deceased Princess Diana, calling them both “round heels” who engaged in pre-marital sex. However, Coulter contends it is perfectly acceptable for herself to engage in serial one-night-stands. (“Let’s say I go out every night, I meet a guy and have sex with him. Good for me. I’m not married.” – Ann Coulter, Rivera Live, 6/7/00.) (See my Washington Monthly essay – “The Wisdom of Ann Coulter.”)
Name One. On Hannity & Colmes, Coulter charged liberals, universally, with treason, yet refused to name a single contemporary liberal traitor. Host Sean Hannity remained silent. Some months later Hannity became apoplectic when guest Ron Daniels suggested that some conservatives are racist. Hannity demanded that he name one and called him a “moral coward” (see also Chris Matthews transcript”).
Defamation. Coulter has repeatedly – since 1997 – defamed American war heroes (see “War Heroes and Villains”).
Though an advocate for liberty and truth, honor and morality, Ann Coulter’s partisan polemicism perverts the very principles she professes. Thus, the essence of being Ann Coulter is …
“The absolute conviction that there is one set of rules for you, and another, completely different set of rules for everyone else.” – Ann Coulter
