"Sounds like sour grapes to me"...My co-worker just...
...muttered that reichwing tripe.

Not to me, mind you, but to herself at her desk. Just loud enough to hear.

Since she listens to Rush, and other associated liars and loons, I can only assume that she was refering to O'Neill.

Hmm. I wonder what part of his story she thinks is "Sour Grapes" (Doesn't that mean "Lies"?)? The Bush idiocy at staff meetings or the Iraq Invasion was pre-planned and without any evidence of WMD's?

Cute, eh?

2. Ask her if you think what he is saying is true.

She won't talk about whether or not it is true, only whether or not he has "sour grapes."

But hey, shes a dittohead.

3. Love that argument - like the head of Alcoa is going to throw a hissy fit
...just 'cause he was fired from a (relatively) low-paying job in the public sector.

We're not ALL minimum wage clones, Rush. (No offense to real people that have to work minimum wage.)

7. My name requires me to ask this....
I was wondering... When O'Neill was in the Bush administration I'm sure many of us claimed he was lying almost every time he opened his mouth. However, now that he's no longer with the administration and is speaking ill of it we believe everything he says. Does this strike anyone else as being odd?

8. you're oversimplifying
O'Neill was off the message enough times during his tenure in the administration that many Dems did in fact applaud his comments. He was obviously never part of the BFEE.

And the fact that he has 19,000 documents backing him up does add a certain gloss to his comments.

9. Hey I never said I liked him, not once. I think they're ALL scum.
That doesn't mean however that they can't have internecine warfare and us not take sides. That and from what I've read O'Neill provided thousands of pages of memos, some "secret", to the author of the book.

We'll see soon enough.

The enemy of my enemy is certainly not my friend, but he can be used.

23. Not monolithic
There probably are some repubs left who honor the country more than they honor Bush*. Granted, they are probably few in number but there are some.......

I never despised a person for belonging to another party as long as their integrity was intact. The one's I despised were those who sold their integrity to the highest bidder.

10. we were?

I suppose that could be "odd", if it's even true. The fact that O'Neill's words support the actual truth in this case, I'm sure has something to do with it. Do you have any examples of O'Neill statements that we should look at?

It's known, historical fact that PNAC had this planned before Bush even started runningfor President. Then, he's sworn in, fills his Admin with PNAC devils, and says there is "no plan on my desk" even as ships are sailing to the Gulf?

Though that might be technically true, since I'm sure Bush has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with planning anything except naps

12. Well, since you're one of "us"---
Surely you can link to one of those threads when DU'ers doubted his veracity?

The other side paints all Democrats as totally evil but we tend to be more forgiving here. Surely, many of the neo-conservatives seem to be the spawn of Satan. However, some of us can recall the day when Republicans were just the other political party. Old farts with too much money, perhaps, but they did have principles. Even enlightened self-interest seems to have gone out of style with the new crew--they just want to lie & smash.

O'Neill appears to be one of the older sort of Republican.

13. Tell her the story is old news
If she is referring to the invasion, tell her that O'Neill's claim is old news and was reported in 2002. Tell her that you thought that everybody knew that Bush planned the invasion long before 9-11 and that you are surprised that anyone is making fuss over O'Neill's claims now.

If she does not believe you, I just posted a link to a story published in 2002 in the Sunday Herald on another thread that you can give as evidence. Just in case you do not see the other thread here is the link:

14. How many "sour grapes" can O'Neill buy with $60 Million?
He didn't divest when he was first appointed and his wealth grew by $60 Million until he finally did divest his holdings and put them in a blind trust.

16. Wow... what a coincidence...
...that that's the EXACT same thing the MSNBC poll said on Sunday when the O'Neill story was all over the news. No, it didn't say "O'Neill accusations: True or False?", it said "O'Neill: Sour Grapes?" Is that a leading question, or what? The poll might well have been: "O'Neill: Traitor or child molester?"

I vomitted before I caught the results of the poll. Anyone happen to remember?

20. It is really surreal to see how quickly "the mantra" is repeated.
The media pundits are our shepards, we shall not stray. Keep repeating, unelectable, safer, freedom and now, sour grapes, Clinton, disgruntled etc. What's next? He may have committed a crime?

Anyone heard or know of any response to Kevin Phillips new book?
