just got blasted by a canadian conservative...
I joined a Canadian message boards because my cousin lives in Canada...and I came to find out that Ann Coulter was contibuting articles there...something to do with notnaked.com...so I posted that I was not going to post there anymore because of the fact that I didn't like her hateful rhetoric towards liberals...and look what one of the editors/columnists for notnaked.com said to me about my exit post...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't hate Ann Coulter's "hate filled rants", you hate your hate-filled liberal rants being challenged by conservative views -- even when they're done by a humorous (you only "get it" if you're truly open-minded or conservative) political commentator and author who "spews" (as you so delightfully call it) vitriol matched only by countless others on the left, not to mention countless individuals on the left who post as much hate-filled vitriol and nonsense as possible in boards just like this one and others.

But thanks for getting your passive-aggressive rant in before "leaving" these boards.

I'm sure you'll find the terribly gentle and love-filled approach of the ubiquitous Michael Moore and Al Frankin more to your liking (as seen at most every liberal/democratic web site including the Democratic National Committee's web site when they gave their books away as free gifts to those who made a contribution).

I personally think you join various boards to spread Bush-hating rhetoric around because it's easy, satisfying to your left wing dogma-driven agenda, and it's always fun to find people on your side. You stay active as a member at those boards at which you find other posters high-fiving your Bush-bashing.

You tried to find that here, but were rebuffed by a fellow member's conservative viewpoint, as well as my own, much to your chagrin. Clearly seeing that there's no getting away with the all-too-common and simplistic Bush-hating rhetoric at this site, you leave in disgust with much fanfare and hate-filled rhetoric against a simple writer expressing her views.

But as you advise us before signing off as "one proud liberal" and denouncing a conservative writer and her "spewing", do "keep on doing what you do". Because eventually you might accidentally read an opposing point-of-view and broaden your horizons, and you might stop "hating your government", as you said, quite so much.

Peace.

1. Tell him to read Franken
Al Franken absolutely humiliates Coulter in "Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them." Tell this guy to read his chapters "Ann Coulter: Nutcase" and "You know who I don't like? Ann Coulter." Tell him that our problem with Coulter is not her vitriol: it's the fact that she is a complete liar who wouldn't know a fact if it bit her in the ass. Tell him that the right wing may tolerate such lies in their "satire" but that we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Tell him the difference between Franken and Coulter is that Franken is a legitimate journalist who does his research, and he can afford to do his research because the facts support his positions.

Oh, and another key difference: Franken is funny.

2. naaaaa...
I came to find out that the message boards were completely one sided...I was sent a welcome message when I joined that said they were open to all forms of discussion...blah blah blah...well...that didn't take long to find out that they were open to discussions that favored their side and not both sides...

I'm not going back to that site...it's just not worth my time...those people can squirm in their own shit...

I went into that site with an open mind...not looking to start fights...but my first post on that site I brought up the subject about Canada getting shut out of Iraq contracts and I made mention that some of us love our country but hate our government...hate may have been a strong word but at the time it sounded good...and that person Joel came in blasting me without even giving it a chance...

Then I came across one day that Ann Coulter was contributing opinions there and I felt the need to leave...I can't stand her hate-filled rants about liberals and democrats...

I'm open to discussion with anyone...but to get blasted by this guy after only making two posts...that was enough for me...

3. Ann Coulter is great I like listening to her rants they are funnier than
anything. She babbles on and on about nothing and has a smirk on her face that can turn someone to stone. I would rather have her be a Repub. than a Dem anyday. Good riddence

Then that just proves that I never want to be conservative.

Every day conservatives disgust me more and more.

Hey guys, first post. Hope I can fit in. Thought you might be interested in this place, the "official" Annorexic chat board:

Just to let you know, I am a centrist who voted for Bush in the last election but am not sure about voting for him in the upcoming election. I don't really like any of the current democrats, but I am watching their stances on various things before making a decision. We'll see come november.

12. Coulter is a demonstrable fraud
Go to http://www.dailyhowler.com and search on "coulter", you'll get dozens of columns detailing her falsehoods, spinning, and misrepresentations.

And her writings are quite correctly described as "spew" or "hate filled rants" because of their near-limitless hyperbole. Most political cartoonists trade in more subtle caricatures than she does.

15. but hey!

Ya gotta love Canadian right-wingers -- their spelling and grammar is irreproachable. ;)

(Well, there are admittedly exceptions to that. But think of fading press baron Conrad Black, and all those big words he tosses around to amaze and impress all us little people. Dubya wouldn't understand a syllable of it.)

If you do want to give a link to the site (I didn't see one), some of us up here could maybe give you a better idea of exactly whom/what you were dealing with, if you're curious. (I am!)

16. ..."read an opposing point-of-view and broaden your horizons"
That's an obviously false assumption. If i were to pick up a copy of "Treason" or "Slander", read either one in it's entirety, and were to change my mind about my political affiliations shortly thereafter, i wouldn't say that i "broadened my horizons", i'd say that i simply changed my mind.

And furthermore, what horizon would become more broad if you were to become conservative, much like the aforementioned "ubiquitous" poster suggested? If you were to define what a conservative is, and likewise a liberal, which side would be more likely to be considered as having "broad horizons"? Maybe he meant "broaden your financial horizons" by becoming conservative? Who knows.

"you only 'get it' if you're truly open-minded or conservative"... Remember folks, you're only considered "truly" open-minded to a conservative if you accept conservative view points, but then again, that door swings both ways. I would think Ann Coulter was funny if she ever said anything about liberals that was true... or funny. The correct terminology would have been "you only 'get it' if you're conservative or conservative"

"all-too-common and simplistic Bush-hating rhetoric"... For me to say that "bush is a moron" is glaringly simplistic. Would anyone who supports bush and his cohorts read a 37 page essay on the psychological connotations that lead others to believe that one is indeed a moron and the actions of bush that would prove he falls within said parameters? And furthermore, why would anyone want to tell a bush supporter that their leader is stupid... to get them to "broaden their horizons"? No! They'd tell them that to piss 'em off!

There's a secret to constructing an effective response on the internet: Use big words, correct punctuation, proper grammar and make yourself sound like a complete and total pompous ass, much like i'm doing now :) So, all he was saying was: "You suck, michael moore sucks and all your buddies suck, eh." But he had to make it all complicated.

Peace

- timm

The great thing about Canadian regressive conservatives is that they're a bunch of fringe nutcases who will never have any power. In the US they'd be mainstream.

22. The RW really hates the people
Funny that RWs ridicule liberals while hiding their own beliefs from us. For example, can you imagine even a moderate conservative coming out and declaring, "The government should help corporations exploit the public." But we see clearly that this is what they believe because they are never, never, never outraged by the corruption all around us. Thus, they approve. So why don't they come out and just say it: Fuck the people!

I'm fired up about corruption because I just read Lewis H. Laphan in the February issue of Harper's describe the crookedness behind George Bush's new authorization to reduce the cost of prescription drugs for every needy American. Anyone who had read the 681 pages of the Medicare amendment would discover, however, that the government "may not negotiate a bulk discount; it must pay whatever price the manufacturer sets or asks - prices that in the recent past have rising at a rate of 12 per cent a year. The legislation forbids the importing of less expensive drugs from Canada. . . "

Lapham describes in more detail "all the cheats and false suppositions written into the legislation". It's enough to make a decent citizen outraged. So I'm saying that conservatives, even the moderate ones, are clearly not decent citizens because they remain approvingly silent while the government helps industry to exploit the public. And these are the people who always have the word "patriot" on the tips of their tongues.

27. oh well then!
I looked at the site -- I gather you don't want to give the link, but it's easy to find if you google for that Joel Johannesen, who shows up there and nowhere else. I've never heard of him, and I apparently don't have any reason to have heard of him.

We all know Ann Coulter.

Wendy McElroy you've probably never heard of -- from my bookmarks: http://www.ifeminists.com -- "independent feminists", i.e. "libertarian" right-wing anti-feminist women. McElroy is nominally Canadian, but is a darling of the "libertarian" right wing in the US. You'll find her at Fox, if you google her name. Ah, here we are: http://www.independent.org/tii/tii_info/bios/wmcelroy.html

"WENDY McELROY is Research Fellow at The Independent Institute, columnist for FOX News.com, and editor of the Instiute’s web site, iFeminism.com."
The usual crap ... global warming is a hoax, Wal-Mart is good for you.

And of course she's a babe -- a brunette Ann Coulter.

What I happen to know her name from, as well, is gun control. Trust me -- up here, if you oppose the existing firearms rules (leaving aside the firearms registry, which is a political football), you are waaaaay past "conservative" on the right.

So my unsolicited advice to anybody who encounters this bunch would be -- don't even bother reading what their followers write, let alone talking to them. They are not a threat. They are, and we up here know they are, marginal fringe-hangers, talking to themselves with nobody else listening.

You read that 75% of Canadians now support Chrétien's decision not to join in attacking Iraq? And 12% of Canadians, was it, like Bush even a little bit? We can see through evil morons in a second. ;)

This really is a case of ignoring them being the best policy, since anything else really would be a complete waste of time!

"Open-minded" and "conservative" don't exactly go together. Did he mean you have to be one or the other to "get it"? Or does he actually believe conservatives are "open-minded"?
