So much for that economic recovery nonsense.... "pie in the sky"

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. economy added a paltry 21,000 jobs last month, according to a surprisingly weak government report on Friday that turned up the heat on President Bush as he seeks re-election.

Chris Low, chief economist at FTN Financial, said the report was "unambiguously ugly." Joel Naroff of Naroff Economic Advisors called it "terribly disappointing."

Wall Street firms had forecast a February gain of 125,000 jobs and the market reaction was swift and sharp. The dollar weakened against most currencies and U.S. Treasury bond prices shot up, sending interest rates down sharply, on the view the Federal Reserve would hold borrowing costs steady for a long time.

"At this rate the Bush administration won't create its first job for another 10 years," Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said in a written statement. The Bush administration released a forecast last month that looked for average job growth of about 300,000 a month this year -- a forecast that looks increasingly pie-in-the-sky.

1.  21,000 jobs that's pathetic.

Is bush talking about how this is a sign of economic growth or is he leaving that up to crash cart.

8. Clinton created 21000 jobs every 63 hours for eight straight years.
Bush* is just plain not competent.

2. Low interest rates has fueled any "recovery"...not tax cuts.
The impact of low interest rates is now reaching it sautration point. There is no where else to go with them except up. The inflation that is out there that no one wants to talk about will bring things to a scretching halt. In the past, Greenspan has raised interest rates on the pretense of increasing inflation but this only makes sense when inflation is caused by an overheated economy (to much buying). The inflation that is out there now is cause by corporate greed...PERIOD. Companies improving profits by firing, outsourcing, and raising prices. So if Greenspan tries to raise interest rates now it will have no effect EXCEPT to put more profits into the hands of the Banking industry and the money-changers.

5. Then our bought and paid for elected bastards need to...
put these corporations back in check.

That's why we elect them, surely? To make and keep a balance?

Regagan's deregulation and whore to corporate greed started this mess.

Seems the aftermath of peak oil will finish it.

And will their undeserved money save them? I hope not.

4. But look at the good news !
When the economy grows 63,000 new jobs next month, they can say that jobs grew by 300% ! 300%! Isn't that proof?

9. How many of that 21,000 fell off the unemployment rolls??
I'd love to know. Yep stop getting a unemployment check during the Bush Junta and that automatically adds up to a job. I'll bet half of that number might have found work, the other half no longer receive a check for unemployment.
