CBS 60 Minutes: Leslie Stahl made Achmad Chalabi dance
Chalabi came off like a slimy SOB.

Ms. Stahl gets high marks for holding this bastard's feet to the fire.

19. He didn't dance enough... I think
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 08:09 PM by LiberalFighter
He was trying to blame the CIA for not getting it right.

I just wonder if Cheney got him to make the call so that gw* could create doubt about the truth by laying the blame elsewhere.

3. She did a good job with the interview.
What we had was the slime ball Chalabi and his people telling the slime ball Chickenhawks what they wanted to hear. Chalabi defense is basically that they knew we were lying so it was their fault.

6. What was she talking about at the end, though?
It sounded as if Chalabi's group had provided buckets of documents that the CIA or military was calling "a gold mine", referring to linking Saddam with either terrorists or Al Queda. What was that about?

The rest was a sober lesson for the American people about the leadership buying into whatever intelligence suits their immoral purpose.

10. I think she prefaced it well with "Administration sources say..."
Another blind alley, another lie, another bluff, another desperate falsehood.

Who would believe "Administration sources" or the laughable INC at this point.

8. She did good!
I have one MAJOR complaint. She kept saying that Chalabi mislead the US....NOT TRUE. Chalabi mislead the bush* administration, not the US.

9. No OSP?!?
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 07:35 PM by leftchick
I liked the show and agree Chalabi was on the ropes. The thing is there was no mention of the OSP and their roll in fueling the "intelligence" that was used. It was half a story as far as I am concerned, but half is better than none.

Said Chalabi not so much to blame as "senior U.S. officials" because everybody knew for years that INC defectors were being coached to tell juicy lies.

Leslie did good.

13. Of Course, Bill O'Whorley will now assault Ms. Stahl for exsposing....
Bushler's "Right" Hand Man as the swine that he is.

O'Whorley did not like when Stahl interviewed Paul O'Neill,
he was whining about how the "liberal elites" at CBS were
"unfairly" attacking *!

:puke:

Otherwise, Great Interview!!!!!!!1

15. Stahl has changed her tune recently. Her and Russert
know what's going on I think. Dianne Sawyer didn't do half bad interviewing Dubya either, she pressed him for answers when it looked like he was getting ready snap her a good one.

16. As hard as it may to stomach
Chalabi is being unfairly criticized. He's right. Cheney knew exactly what he wanted to hear and what not. This is just a plain old double crossing and that is something very typical of a pack of rats.

it's too little too late for ms. stahl. all this info was out before the war. she never mentioned in this report, or do i see it much in connection with chalabi, he's a convicted embezzler. just a fact that if this guy wasn't on bush's team, would be mentioned every time he was.

22. I was disappointed
Leslie Stahl did not bring up the fact that Chalabi was convicted in absentia on 31 counts of embezzlement and bank fraud in Jordan. This man is a criminal.

When considering the "evidence" that Chalabi was presenting, the Bush administration had a responsibility to consider the man's character.

Of course considering the band of thugs, liars, and crooks residing within this administration, it is not surprising that Chalabi was welcomed with open arms.
