In state that are considered "Conservative" and where Moderates and Liberals have significantly less pull, is a Conservative Democrat better than the average Conservative Republican?
My example is Senate candidate Rep. Brad Carson (D-0K-2)... many people on DU and other boards worry about his stances... we see him as too conservative... but on the other hand he has the best shot of any Dem. Senate hopeful in Oklahoma in the last 10 years of actually winning a seat. He faces very conservative GOP opponents in former OKC Mayor Kirk "the Jerk" Humphreys, former U.S. Rep. Tom Coburn, and Corporation Commissioner Bob Anthony.
Without babbling on forever, the point of this post is to ask the question... Where should we draw the line? What are the plusses and minuses associated with helping to elect Conservative Democrats? Most would agree Zell Miller shouldn't be helped, but must a Conservative Dem. endorse the GOP that prominently before we get mad and withdraw support?
I'll work for Carson for lack of a better alternative but not without some qualms.
