What happens if the US gets its trains bombed before the election?
And the bombers leave the demand to stop supporting Bush. Will most Americans abort Bush to prevent even more or worse attacks?

Will the terrorists leave us alone if we elect Kerry? I think Spain is safe now but are we?

1. *Bush wins
If this election becomes a referendum on terrorism rather than jobs, health care, and the economy, *bush wins

24. Bush loses - BIG TIME!! Failure to protect America!
Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 06:29 PM by ElementaryPenguin
More proof that his bogus war on terror is making America and the world MORE unsafe everyday - and that his misadministration doesn't know how to protect us (it would be the 2nd big, successful attack on the continental U.S. on HIS watch!) People would further associate Bushler and disaster!

2. I'm afraid it would have the opposite effect here.
People would vote for Bush so that they can see more explosions over some hapless third-world pseudo-opponent.

3. They won't bomb trains in the U.S.
Sad to say, trains are a minor mode of transportation in this country, unlike Europe or Asia.

If they wanted to disrupt and panic the typical American city, they'd target freeways.

I think an attack like that would harden the resolve of both sides: the rightwingers would say "We've got to cling to our great leader," and the leftwingers would say, "We've got to get rid of that man before he gets us all killed." The rest would just be scared and would follow whoever talked to them most convincingly.

4. Minor in California for sure, but
take a trip to the right coast and there are lots of crowded trains and subways

7. trains carry huge amounts of hazardous material and explosives
even through population centers so the targets are both easy and will cause extreme damage. The militias have been attacking the rails on occasion I believe here just to make a point. Many derailments are not just equipment failure.

8. No * would lose
It would not be good for *. It would show that his war against Saddam was at the expense of going after Al Queda and the Dems would not be expected to be non partisan, all they have to say is "we told you so" and present a plan to go after Bin laden.

14. Getting a VP candidate that is strong on defense will help
Kerry overcome this being his alleged area of weakness. And Americans willsee that Shrub was useless and powerless to stop the terrorists, and that he LIHOP.

And yes, Bush will have to fire someone like Rummy or Condi.

5. They will fire Donald Rumsfeld.
Remember, after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the American military commanders in Hawaii, Admiral Husband E. Kimmel and Lieutenant General Walter Short, were relieved of their commands, blamed for failing to ward off the attack which killed 2400, and were demoted in rank. So it stands to reason, that if we had a devestating attack of that magnitude, oh.....wait....

6. if the bombers demand we stp supporting Bush?
then Bush would win. Bush would win in a landslide.

Will we be left alone if we elect Krry? hell no. Until we stop our "evil" ways we will always be targets and even then we'll still show up on someone's hate list

9. It would backfire here...
Spaniards were 90% against going into Iraq and exposing themselves to danger for no apparent reason. Here, the media has allowed the "Iraq was a battle in the war on terror" lie to permeate the electorate. As perverse as it is, the electorate would see an attack as proof that the Iraq invasion was necessary.

Stupid? Yes, but that's the way it is.

12. This is exactly what will happen
The people who are now supporting Kerry will say, "See? Bush did not protect us like he said he would. He said he would go after Osama and Al Queda and it's been 3 years and he still hasn't finished the job because he switched the focus to fighting his daddy's war instead."

They will vote for Kerry as planned.

The people who are now supporting Bush will say, "You can't let the terrorists win. A vote for Kerry is a vote for the terrorists."

They will vote for Bush as planned.
