The whoring that is going on now trying to put a positive spin on the WH flip-flop on 9/11 testimony is just sickening. I had to turn it off.

OMIGOD, there's a knock at our door. We're getting under the bed.

Forget it, it was just the maid.

23. Wolf was NOT in Baghdad in Bush war 1
Wolf was briefly in Saudi Arabia.

It was Bernie Shaw, Peter Arnett, and John Holloran in Baghdad. Bernie Shaw was crying like a little girl. He was only supposed to be in Baghdad for one day for that Saddam interview and then get out before the bombing started. He picked the wrong day.

The other day I actually heard one of the CNN anchor women refer to Bush as 'Our President' instead of 'the President.' I'm like you, I turn it off.

4. Just had Carter's former Security guy on....
This guy was great, said he believed Clarke for the most part and really kept bringing up the point that Clarke said about the memo from Jan and the one from Aug...that those need to be compared - there is the evidence...that panel better be asking her!!!

He also said that the War has complicated the war on terror and Wolff kept saying that isn't Saddam gone good??? He said we should have been more patient... Wolff had no answer - "gotta leave it there..."

Now he's got some Repub on saying how this has gotten politicized...huh??? Isn't that why Bush gave in??? To save his political butt???????????????

3. Its a sad transformation..
CNN was once the most objective cable news channel, but they have decided to compete for the FOX audience. They have become unwatchable, sometimes even beyond FOX in their open adoration for Bush.

15. CNN has ALWAYS been right-wing
I was critiquing them back in the 80's for their pro-Reagan/Bush/Quayle bias. It was horrible.

Remember the '88 debate with Shaw as the moderator? Or their cutsey cartoon graphics showing how SWELL Reagan's "Star Wars" was? Loads of examples.

CNN has always been RW, but they are less subtle in the Fox News era.

6. an observation
I think the reason we've seen so many threads with CNN outrages this week is how they've shown their true stripes during the Clarke controversy, frantically spinning and showing utter panic at the thought of the Boy King being taken down.

Contrast this with the clock display during Clinton's grand jury testimony. It's enough to make you vomit.

Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 08:46 PM by The Night Owl
The right thinks we adore CNN. Go figure.

I only wonder if CNN knows that we hate them. I hope they do.

Another irony is that the right still thinks CNN is liberal. What a joke!

12. ARE YOU LETTING THEM KNOW YOU HATE THEM/HIM/IT?
"I only wonder if CNN knows that we hate them. I hope they do."

I agree with you on that. But CNN isn't hiring mind-readers. Especially when you and I are tuned in. I, myself, was watching the other day when Wolf was interviewing Donald Trump and Trump said - odd as it might seem (his words), he thought the economy did better when Democrats are in charge." Wolf tried every which-a-way to disposess him of this. My reaction as I watched was "JEEZ, Wolf hates Democrats."

Guys, these people do NOT, will NOT, and can NOT get this if we don't send it in. If they think we don't care, they won't either. WE CAN ALREADY SEE THAT THEY DON'T.

31. Glad to hear this, Night Owl!

Inspired by you, I just sent this in:

PLEASE HELP POOR WOLF BLITZER!!!

Obviously, he's receiving, and transmitting, ONLY one side of the story, obviously from the White House spin-doctors. Does he realize that this same White House had Clarke's book for months and fully vetted and signed off on it - on their own timetable, BEFORE it reached the publisher? Does Blitzer realize that the 9/11 hearings were extended BEYOND THE CONTROL OF a) this White House, b) Clarke's publisher, and c) Clarke himself? And, by the way, over White House objections? Does Blitzer realize that, if the White House had had its way, there wouldn't be any 9/11 hearings - AT ALL??? And if so, WHY AREN'T THESE FACTS REFLECTED IN BLITZER'S DISCOURSE? And has Blitzer EVEN READ CLARKE'S BOOK? If not, I'll be glad to send him a copy...

I can somewhat understand how you guys want to start emulating the Fox Network, but really, we already have the Fox Network. You guys should at least try to present an alternative.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, I sent this to Blitzer, himself (HA! Like he'll care...)

Mr. Blitzer, PLEASE!!!

At LEAST, READ THE CLARKE BOOK! TRY, at least TRY to do so with an open mind. I realize the talking points you get, routinely, from the White House, have probably helped to close you off a little. But if you truly call yourself a journalist, then do it just for the sake of ALLEGED objectivity, okay? As a former journalist myself, I can identify bias when it smacks me in the face. Yours is just unconscionable. I'd expect FAR better than that from someone of your stature.

Besides, as a former journalist myself, NONobjective and NONfactual "reporting" is offensive to me.

I was a broadcast journalism major in college. One of the first words I learned was 'objectivity.'

Maybe they don't teach that any more. But the media is supposed to be a watchdog, not a freakin' lapdog.

I hear there used to be things like objectivity and journalistic integrity. I guess 10 years of Chomsky made me forget. I think it's been out of fashion since at least the Reagan era.

But I had assumed that was reporters and such, real journalists, not commentators, editorialists and debate show hosts.

YES. I think Wolf Blitzer is way too partisan, and SHOULD either be fired or reassigned. Note, they DO have opinion programs and pundits on CNN. He should be repackaged as one of those. NOT an objective reporter. Because he is HARDLY objective. Few of them are, anymore. It's just painful to watch. And to think that I used to be in THAT business. But the business I was in didn't sound or behave like the business now does.

A couple of days ago one reporter, when referring to Clarke, used the term "hack politician" to describe how some view him. Now, the next time he talks about our beloved President Crooked , will he refer to him as "crooked, lying, murderer" as some have described him? I doubt it.
