1. We don't have to spin anything.... We fight the spin...
We have to try and get the truth and the facts out about the PDB and not let it be spun. That is our challenge. By the way, Welcome, AprilRain! :)

2. We sure do need to keep it out there
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 09:33 PM by Lindacooks
but our side doesn't have to spin it. It's a damning document and shows the incompetence and arrogance of chimp's regime; just keep it in the news and in the public's mind.

On Edit: GMTA Kentuck! :)

And welcome to DU, April Rain!

3. WE don't spin the memo. WE stick to the FACTS in the memo itself,
and in the events that transpired at the time.

Only the Republicans are spinning because they have no truth and no facts that back up their spins.

6. Spinning is a polite way of lying. No lies necessary...
All we need to do is remind people of all there already is in the public record. Like the Rowley memo that started "Bush Knew":

5) The fact is that key FBIHQ personnel whose job it was to assist and coordinate with field division agents on terrorism investigations and the obtaining and use of FISA searches (and who theoretically were privy to many more sources of intelligence information than field division agents), continued to, almost inexplicably,5 throw up roadblocks and undermine Minneapolis' by-now desperate efforts to obtain a FISA search warrant, long after the French intelligence service provided its information and probable cause became clear. HQ personnel brought up almost ridiculous questions in their apparent efforts to undermine the probable cause.6 In all of their conversations and correspondence, HQ personnel never disclosed to the Minneapolis agents that the Phoenix Division had, only approximately three weeks earlier, warned of Al Qaeda operatives in flight schools seeking flight training for terrorist purposes!

http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101020603/memo.html

And why did the Dept. head who blocked the FISA get an award by Bush????

7. Whatever it takes!
Are we a political party or a party of cowering, wimpering babies? I am so sick of the repukes spinning literally anything and everything they can get their hands on, while we just sit back and take it. Well, if our party doesn't stand up this time, they will regret it in November. Just to be clear-I'm still voting for Kerry no matter what. However, I will lose respect for the party leaders.

10. Get real...
Valid criticism is OK but criticism when it is not necessary is not productive, in my opinion.

15. I only meant
that we need to get our side on the airwaves before the repukes define the story with their spinning. I'm all for valid criticism based on facts. Those are on our side. But what criticism is not necessary? I'm not pushing that when we have do much that's good.

23. Nah, the cowering, whimpering babies reside in the Republican Party.
They are the majority and they are letting this administration destroy the economy and Constitution. They should be joining the minority Democrats and putting an end to this criminal administration.

Unfortunately, they take their marching orders from Tom DeLay and the RNC...they are too scared to hold this administration accountable.

11. We dont need to spin
Its clear as day that bin laden was a subject of discussion on aug 6. - now what was said at the meeting itself?
Its clear as day that Condi was trying to evade answering truthfully.
Thats all we need from this. - Now can we nail her for perjury or shall we debate what the definition of "is" is.

a very negative-appearing post at the top of the page. If I were a lurker, and just looked at your headline, I would think all the Democrats want to do is spin the story? Did you think of that?

Truth will crush power, lies and bullshit everytime you use it. It is the silverbullet to their werewolf of propaganda.

25. CNN
is starting to spin this..Bill Schneider just said that it was the Prez that had "specifically requested" the briefing. NOW if memory serves me, when the 911 commission first started talking about this they said it was done and provided by Tenant, at the CIA and given to georgie, s part of the normal briefing policy, not as a special request.

27. This ought to help
So far, nobody's been able to offer a plausible explanation for the following sequence of events:

In May 2001 the U.S. State Department met with Iran, German and Italian officials to discuss Afghanistan. It was decided that the ruling Taliban would be toppled and a "broad-based government" would control the country so a gas pipeline could be built there.

Even as plans were being made to remove the Taliban rulers from power, Colin Powell announced a $43 million "gift" to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in the UAE received a call that Bin Laden supporters were in the U.S. planning attacks with explosives. It was rumored that Bin Laden was interested in hijacking U.S. aircraft.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/images/04/10/whitehouse.pdf

In July 2001, the private plot formulated in May for toppling the Taliban was divulged during the G8 summit in Genoa, Italy. Immediately after the conference, American, Russian, German and Pakistani officials secretly met in Berlin to finalize the strategy for military strikes against the Taliban, scheduled to begin before mid-October 2001

In September 2001 the "catastrophic and catalyzing" modern-day Pearl Harbor envisioned years earlier by the PNAC came to pass when the WTC and Pentagon were attacked. The finger of blame was pointed at Osama bin Laden, a former CIA operative with ties to Afghanistan. Suddenly, the U.S. "gift" of $43 million to the Taliban in May was cast in a new light. Coincidentally, Pakistan had participated in the plan to attack Afghanistan and the chief of Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence agency was later linked to a 911 hijacker after wiring him $100,00 just days before the WTC fell.

In October 2001, with flags waving, crowds cheering, and anthems playing, the "War On Terror" and the hunt for Osama began when Afghanistan was attacked right on schedule of July's secret meeting
