Wes Clark for Veep
Its obvious what the Repuklican strategy is going to be to smear Kerry. They are already trying to define him as a tax and spend liberal who is weak on defense. The tax and spend part Kerry can easily counter himself, especially by vigorously promoting his tax plan. THe weak on defense argument, although unjustified, is going to be harder for Kerry to defend on his own. Fair or not the Repukes are not hesitating from attacking Kerry on this issue on a multitude of fronts: his post VN activities, his Senate voting record, his votes on Gulf War I and II and the 87 billion Iraq war supplemental funding bill, even his actula service record is under attack with the thugs questioning his Purple Hearts.

These are all non issues for us, but for Independents, Moderate Republicans, and swing voters these attacks may gain some traction.

Thats why I think Wes Clark is the slam dunk choice as VP. Clark with his background would, to a great extent, innoculate Kerry from these sort of attacks much the same way that Dick Cheney was viewed by some (idiots)to compensate for Shrub's lack of experience. Not only that but Clark would act as a human wedge issue slicing moderate Republicans away from the Bush camp.

Thoughts?

That "(idiots)" cracked me up...

:hi:

Anyway, yes, I think he would be a solid choice for VP

4. I agree, and as a Draft-Clarker, I have to say I doubt he will be picked.
He's not a smooth politician and we unfortunately live
in an era where smooth politicians rule the day.

5. I think he's smooth enough...
and he's an Arkansan military man, so he gives voters that "down home" (extremely intelligent) counrty boy feel. Voters should feel safer just listening to him.

They would need him to go out and get into a fight. He can do that well.

8. Oh, I agree 100%
Kerry seems to be using Clark specifically to reach out to moderates and disaffected Repubs. I gotta believe he's smart enough to know where his weaknesses lie and to recognize what Clark brings to his campaign.

10. good choice
We have several potential good choices out there - I like Clark and Graham and think Richardson is pretty good, too. All 3 add something to the ticket.

I like Kerry-Clark because you can have two decorated war heroes against two draft dodgers, one who went AWOL from his champagne unit (after his daddy pulled strings to get him in to the champagne unit) and another who didn't serve because he "had other priorities"

He would make a fantastic, slam-dunk, candidate, however.
