That's Chapel Hill am radio 1360. From an email, so can't provide the link...i guess it was a Herald news story.
CHAPEL HILL -- Starting Monday, Chapel Hill will have a leg up on Los Angeles and Chicago when WCHL radio begins broadcasting the flagship programs of Air America Radio, a new network billed as the liberal alternative to conservative talk radio.
One of the two programs, "The O'Franken Factor," will air from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, WCHL general manager Christy Jones said. Comedian and best-selling author Al Franken and veteran public radio personality Katherine Lanpher host the show, which will feature commentary, comedy, and interviews.
The other program, "The Majority Report," will air from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, Jones said. Hosted by comedian and actress Janeane Garofalo and actor/director Sam Seder, the show will mix politics, arts, and entertainment.
Jones announced the signing Thursday, roughly two weeks after Air America began broadcasting.
"They contacted us the second week they were on and said, 'Let's talk again,'" Jones said. "We're pleased we can take the two shows we feel that best suit our local audience and still maintain our local presence."
Jones was alluding to an earlier attempt to reach an agreement with the new network that didn't pan out because Air America executives wanted WCHL -- which broadcasts at 1360 on AM dial -- to sign up for a full day's worth of programming.
Thursday's announcement came in the same week that Air America broadcasts in Los Angeles and Chicago were shut down in the midst of contractual disputes with the owner of the stations the network was working with in those cities.
The Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Daily News reported that the station owner claimed Air America bounced a check and owes $1 million. Air America chairman Evan Cohen denied the claim.
A Thursday report in the Los Angeles Daily News quoted an unnamed staffer at Air America's Los Angeles affiliate as saying the problem could be resolved soon.
A WCHL news release quoted Cohen as saying the network is pleased to have the Chapel Hill station as its first affiliate in North Carolina.
"We look forward to providing our compelling and entertaining programming there," the release quoted Cohen as saying.
Air America also broadcasts on stations in New York, Minneapolis, Portland, Ore., and West Palm Beach, Fla. It can also be heard over XM satellite radio and on its own Web site, airamericaradio.com. WCHL is the broadcast partner of The Chapel Hill Herald.
