Joe Biden at CSIS

Thanks to a heads-up on DU yesterday I was able to catch this on CSPAN last night. My problem with Joe is that his manner suggests that he's throwing down a guantlet - but to me it comes off more like dropping a silk hankerchief. His "come clean with the American people" line doesn't address the real issue for me. A larger military force might have been effective earlier in the game - but the suggestion that sending more troops now would make it "safe" for other nations to come in, just doesn't seem realistic anymore. On the positive side he was more forceful in his presentation and his criticism of bush was a great deal sharper than it has been up to now.

I'm not sure what to think of the organization where Biden spoke ... its Advisory Board has so many 'usual suspects', i.e. James Schlesinger of the Perle-Rumsfeld Defense Advisory Board with Kissinger, et al, Brent Scowcroft ... the Advisory Board is co-chaired by Bu$h-GOPer move and shaker Carla Hills ... and Nixon Center Board advisor, David M. Abshire

In the q&a Biden said that the CIA is giving Chalabi $400k/month and referred to it as putting an American finger on the scale in the formation of the handover "entity".
