This was a response I received from someone I have been trying to convert. I have given up.........lost cause. I was shocked at the coldness and racism. You know this guy coaches little league, and seems like the nicest guy in the world. Is this what regular white republicans actually think. My God!!

I umpire Little League, those coaches can be deadly. I've never had to remove a coach from a field (only ejected 1 person over 3+ years), but I've come very very close.

And in my town, everyone's a Republican anyway.

I think they don't read. I have friends I work with who are Republican and it seems to me they blind themselves by watching Fox and listening to the neo-cons on the radio. Since they keep hearing over and over that the media is "liberal biased" they think the only place to get the "real" news is from Fox and Rush. You wouldn't believe how many people think that Rush is'nt an opinion show but a news show. Anything he says they believe to be facts. If it doesn't fit into a 20 second news bite then it doesn't exist. It's pretty easy to get brainwashed if you get all your information from one source.

Iraq Invasion kind of cut me off from them. I started to see things about them I never noticed before. I imagine they started to see things about me they never noticed before, too.

It's hard when you hear statements like that, not to have a bad reaction. I think the country is very divided and it's hurting many relationships.

If I have to get along with someone like that, I try to not get near politics in discussion. But, these days that's impossible.

So..best to avoid those folks if you can, or limit the interaction if you cant. :-( There are lot's of them out there. Living ordinary lives, until they shoot off with a comment like that.
