The California election is already a disaster before it starts.
First, they have to figure out a way to get around three hundred candidates on a ballot. Next, my county and others have announced that they don't have time to send out absentee ballots, so there will be many disenfranchised voters both from the house bound and those residents who are not in the state at the time. It was announced that we either had to pick them up at the county offices or vote at the precinct. Many of the precincts that have local elections can't handle two elections so they will have to combine the election at different locations.

How is this going to be a fair election? Can't it be stopped at the court level because of the above problems? Can we sue Issa, Schwartzenegger and the whole GOP to cover the 65 million this is estimated to be costing? I feel our officials shouldn't be rolling over and letting this happen.

1. This whole thing...
Has turned into Low Comedy, on a par with tapes of people farting. It is nothing more than another example of the absolute contempt for the democratic process of elections that the repukes have allowed to become institutionalized in that party.

I say class action suit time is here. Take them and their money down and down HARD!!!

2. How?
I'm all eyes (and ears) and what can I do that doesn't involve money. I don't have any.

3. Find a good bunch of lawyers...
With peerless class action suit experience, get them to work on contingency and get them to file the papers.

These kind of lawyers are pitbulls, opportunists of the first water and greedy as hell. Real sharks. Which is why they are so successful and why they are exactly the kind of lawyers that are needed.

4. Not that it doesn't interest me
But how is this just unfair for us?

I think the whole thing is ludicrous, but it's a nightmare for both sides.

It's hard to think we beat the Terminator straight up on a head-to-head ballot IMO anyway. Maybe closer but I think the "star-appeal" would pull him through.

Only fight the battles that will win you the war.

6. Nightmare for *both* sides?..

Excuse me.Who are you doing P.R. for?

The elected Govenor of California is a Democrat - the assault comes from ( financed and incubated by) Republicans. What's the *hardship*? That dumbass Issa tossed away a million-plus and now can't run because in all probability Uncle Karl told him his part of the mission was over? Which had the poor baby in tears, I hear.

The Terminator is just another pawn in the Karl Rove Chess Game. Which is, if you haven't been paying attention, designed to see if it's possible to dispose of a number of Democratic Govenors without actually running against them. It's pretty obvious to me that if the Chimp-in-chief is gonna prevail in 2004 - they have to undermine much more of democracy than even they thought was necessary.

And please, spare me the star appeal crap about Ahnold. One of your buddies was telling me just this afternoon that Maria Shriver's a registered Republican.. Um-hum.

edited for redundant stuff.

7. Exactly.
I can't imagine the logistics of managing a ballot with 300+ candidates! I heard several had the same name! What a mess.
