Condi plays the race card
In a speech before the National Association of Black Journalists Condi Rice compared the Iraqi occupation to the Civil Rights Movement.

I want to thank Condi Rice for bravely striking down this strawman of an argument that threatened to engulf us all.

Of course, Condi doesn't appear to know jack-squat about the civil rights movement. One of her most famous lines about nation building from the 2000 campaign is "It is not the business of the 82nd Airborne Division to escort children to school in Kosovo."

Click here for a picture of the 101st Airborne escorting children to school in Little Rock, Arkansas.

3. One (of many) scary things about Condoleezza
is who she might have had to screw to get the job. Bush? Cheney?

The mind reels.

5. Good Lord,
I can understand hating this woman and the jerks she serves, but that was so incredibly sexist the mind reels. Congratulations. You are helping to slowly but surely confirm that people on DU can be just as backwards in their thinking, if not more as the people they disparage.

16. I knew this was coming
So you think the casting couch is limited to Hollywood? Yeah, I'm sure this kind of thing never happens in corporate America. Everybody knows Republicans don't have sex. (sarcasm)

4. The audacity is profound
To think how many people were tortured and killed for civil rights so uppity posers like her can gad about like her $hit don't stink. She reminds me in so many ways of Clarence Thomas.

7. Gender slurs
If she were a man, would you make remarks based on his sexuality? Would you, for example, say that Colin Powell was promiscuous, a sexual predator, a rapist, a philanderer? I think not. Let's keep it political.

8. I want to know who she was talking about
I haven't seen or read anything that states that the Iraqi people are incapable of democracy,(except that forceing a people into democracy at the barrel of a gun might not work all that well) That was an old canard the republicans used for supporting blood thirsty dictators in south and central America.

I swear the administration is trying to make my head explode.

10. I'll regret this in the morning
This is totally "politically uncorrect," but if Ms. Rice were a white male, no one would have ever heard of her. Her academic work was third rate and her "work" for the BFEE has been atrocious, bordering on criminal. She is incompetent, but her gender and race make her a very convenient pawn for the GOP.

13. Bridge metaphor
Condi declares seven clubs, Powell is Dummy. Dummy is void in hearts with a singleton club, the deuce. Between them, Sharpton and Moseley Braun are holding the ace, king, queen, jack, and ten of clubs, as well as stoppers in every suit. Braun had bid four hearts. Sharpton is long in diamonds, with three face cards in spades. Sharpton leads with a seven of clubs....

Do we really need to see how this hand plays out?

17. Berlin wall was plenty dramatic on its own accord
I suppose you'r referring to the fall of the wall?
The one to which Rumsfeld compared the fall of the Saddam statue, where a few dozen people were present, mostly US soldiers?

In the weeks/months before the actual fall of the Berlin wall, thousands upon thousands of East German civilians were crossing the border to go to West Germany. This was in direct defiance of East German policy. During the actual fall of the wall thousands of people were afoot on both sides of the wall.
An interview with some german TV star doesn't change anything about this.

22. they're risking a revolt of the history teachers
First Rummy compares Iraq to the early years of our republic, now Condi compares it to the civil rights movement?

I want to see Congress pass a law somehow preventing govt. officials from abusing history this way. Forget the flag, this is the real desecration of our heritage.
