Irony at Guantanamo
Disclaimer:
1. I think the constituion is great, and that all men ARE created equal.
2. I think that the people in gitmo should get a fair trial, and they aren't going to get one, sadly.

So on to the story:
I think it's sad that so many other countries are asking for their people to get extradited back to their own home countries (UK, Russia, etc..) and the US gov is not giving them up. bah...

What's hilarious, IRONIC, and makes me chucke, is that some of their parents dont WANT them back...They admit they are living in a beach resort compared to the prisons they would have to be in back home.

That cracks me up.

This thread is being created to NOT discuss gitmo, and how we've taken away their freedoms, this is to discuss the irony and humor in events we disagree with.

The russian mother in the article is quoted as saying,

“I am terribly scared of a Russian prison or Russian court for my son,” Amina Khasanova was quoted as saying by Gazeta newspaper on Friday.
“At Guantanamo they treat him humanely, the conditions are fine.”

1. so?
It's still wrong, even if they are keeping them at the fascist version of a Holiday Inn.

2. But still...
When the world's supposed 'beacon of freedom and democracy' throws people into dog cages and declares them basically subhuman, it gives us a black eye. It's all relative...

3. agree
Yeah it sucks they're there w/out a trial, held without being told what will happen to them, and we wont even extradite them to their own countries.. BAH!

But DAM you have to chuckle when the mom says, "no leave my son there, he's better off than in the crap-hole prisons here.."

that's sad... really sad... heh

fascist holiday inn.. haha!

the mother has no idea what conditions are like.

6' by 6' cubicle!!! with lights on all the time.
hands tied behind the back and legs shackled.
being hung from the ceiling beaten and tortured for information.
they are trying to commit suicide in there.

if only she knew...

5. Something smells funny
Why would a Russian mother assume that her son, who was rounded up in Afghansitan by Americans, would automatically be imprisoned in Russia?

And surely any mother worth her salt would want an imprisoned son to be as close to home as possible.
