Is it Bush or Davis?
Is it Bush or Davis?

All eyes are on the recall election of California’s Governor Gray Davis. The Republicans are fielding more candidates for the Governor’s position than the Democratic party has running for President.

Listening to the Republican Gubernatorial candidates as they list what is wrong with California, I couldn’t help being confused. Are they talking about Davis or Bush? Are they complaining about the state of California or the state of the Nation?

California is also a mirror being held up to the nation – and we should be paying closer attention to this. The state of America is being reflected in California.

Among the reasons being cited for the removal of Gov. Davis are the state budget deficits – according to the Republicans – this is bad. We have a record busting deficit on the national level, but this is just fine with the Republicans. In fact, yet another tax cut is being planned that will increase the federal deficit to new heights.

Republicans think job loss in California is bad, but ignore the massive job losses across the country.

Republicans decry the dismal conditions of California’s public school system, yet passing under-funded federal mandates (strangling state, city and town’s financial resources across the nation) is just fine with them.

Gov. Davis is being accuses of being too cozy with “special Interests” – but when it comes to Bush’s oil soaked connections – this is just good “biddness”.

Gov. Davis is also being accused of “shading” the truth…. excuse me – but does Uranium sales to Iraq, Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, and Mushroom clouds - all cited by Bush and others of his administration ring a bell? So Gov. Davis ‘shades” the truth, but it’s fine for Bush to misspeak….a lot.

If the Republicans succeed in recalling Gov. Davis because of a bad economy, job loss, education, special interests, and shading of the truth – will they also support recalling Bush?

1. But Bush Was Chosen By God
to be the president. So whatever he f*cks up, he's just doing God's will. God want the wealthy to have a dividend tax cut.
