I keep wondering, is the Kerry campaign -- not to mention other Democratic campaigns, MoveOn.org, and other left-of-center organizations -- going to run campaign ads on Fox News, Limbaugh's and Hannity's and Savage's and Boortz's and other RW radio talk shows? At first glance it might appear that paying for ads on shows like those would be a waste of money, because the Democratic message will not resonate with those audiences. But -- looking at this question from another perspective -- because those shows are on EVERYWHERE, there are inevitably lots of middle-of-the-road voters who are also listening, just because across most of the country, when somebody wants to listen to the news or talk radio, that's all there is. I think Air America is going to be on about 26 stations by the end of this month, and Ed Schultz is on 20-something stations, and Thom Hartmann's Web site claims he is "in 57 markets" right now, and there are a few others scattered around the country, but in most of the country, including in central Missouri where I live, if you want to listen to talk radio, Hannity and Limbaugh et. al. are ALL there is. Which is why I NEVER listen to local radio stations and haven't for years; I listen to XM and Sirius satellite radio instead. But for Democrats to reach those middle-of-the-road voters, shouldn't we be buying advertising time on those shows too? And would Fox News and Hannity and Limbaugh REFUSE to run Democratic campaign advertising? Even if they would, I think Democrats should try anyway, just to get it on the record that they DID refuse that advertising. We could make an issue out of that, especially with Fox's claims to be "fair and balanced." Anyway, I realize that a pollster shouldn't argue in favor of one of the positions on the poll, which I've just done, but what do y'all think?
