The Tide Has Turned
Always accentuate the positive. Never mention the negatives. That has been the rule of the Bush campaign. Always maintain confidence and assurance and you will never lose. Your supporters should never think of anything except victory.

However, reality sometimes intervenes and it has now intervened in the Bush smiley parade. Several big name conservative writers and television people have backed away from their support of Mr Bush. Not only that, the polls in the last two or three days have shown him to be at his lowest levels of support in 3 1/2 years. The prison abuse stories and the casualties in Iraq have not helped his cause.

Now, the Bush campaign faces a new reality. They are down. If the election were held today, he would probably lose. Perhaps in a landslide? By this time tomorrow, it will start to sink in. They will realize that they are going to lose in November if something does not turn around. His greatest glory, the mission accomplished, is now the albatross around his neck.

1. Yes, the tide is turning
But it will turn back during the next six months. We have to stay on them and not give up.

3. The military better find Bin Laden for Bush and fast!
But you know what, stubbornheaded repukes continue to support that no good corrupt creep in the White House including his misadministration. It's just sick!

8. well bubba
in politics 6 months can be like 6 years - we still have to remember the probable "Osama Captured Headlines" of september, and the $1.60 gallon of gas prices that will be showing up in october --- never underestimate KKKarl Rove

10. or the dirty bomb in the US, or the scewed up voting machines...
Even if it comes out the voting machines are hosing the elections then all Bush will say is "I did not know", we will have to delay elections until this can be studied and fixed. I am declaring Martial Law"!!

Of course, he may not want the country, and I doubt God itself could fix the mess he's left behind in 4 years.

5. I think that Bush may have
reached his "We have lost Walter" moment. When Walter Cronkite turned against the war, President Johnson did not need anyone else to tell him it was over.

14.  I was mistaken, it was Nixon. One night, Cronkite
spoke out against the war in Vietnam. Nixon said "We've lost Walter, we've lost the American people."

19. But Nixon had seen previous defeats; he knew how to recognize them.
After all, he'd had to give that "you won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymoer" speech. When Nixon lost, he had to live with it.

Chim-Chim's never had a loss he had to live with. Anything he's done that went south was just a stepping stone to a higher level of play.

He'd never recognize a "Walter" moment, and probably won't take his handler's advice when they tell him.

9. Another shocker from VERY Republican Alaska -
In Letters to the Editor, today's Anchorage Daily News:
http://www.adn.com/letters/

"If international law doesn't apply, what's our standard? According to Bush, America's rule of law doesn't apply. If they're not Americans and not on American soil, America's courts have no authority. The only remaining standard is, "whatever Bush says it is."

President Bush is currently in court, defending his decision to deny Guantanamo Bay prisoners prisoner of war status and, in doing so, he is also defending his authority to have prisoners stripped naked before questioning.

Bush's eagerness to discard the rule of law isn't limited to foreigners. He's also in court claiming the right to designate you an illegal combatant. If Bush wins, he will have the authority to make anyone he wants disappear. No explanation required."

THE SIGNATURE IS :

Ray Metcalfe
chairman of the Alaska Republican Moderate Party

They're goin' down..................

13. Nice quote.
The Anchorage Daily News said:

"President Bush is currently in court, ...."

What a nice image that is.

16. That lifts my spirits, Kentuk, thanks, but it is sad that it would take
what I knew it would to turn the tide. Pain suffering and misery, and its not just the abuse scandal. I believe that is the straw that broke the camels back. Americans have been suffering under this admin for some time, however Americans are a proud lot, and refused to tell themselves that they made a mistake by supporting this asshole. Bush made the mistake of tarnishing that pride on an international level, and that gave many an excuse to just say no and still feel good about themselves. Does that make sense?

17. No one likes to admit they have made a mistake....
Especially one so grand as putting George W Bush in such a position of authority.
