This picture says it all about this administration.

I totally regret sleeping in when Meet The Press was on. It must have been a hoot viewing that slip up. It made me think just how absent the whole administration really is when it comes to Iraq. This picture speaks volumes. Really Collin Powell. What were you trying to hide from the viewers???

1. I prefer
the one that shows them coming out of viewing the abuse photos......bush first, looking dumbfounded like he did on 9/11; then cheney, looking weirdly amused......

I think it encapsulates their relationship perfectly.

repost anyone, please?

3. Isn't it usually replayed Sunday night?
Aren't you on the Left Coast? Maybe you can still catch it. It's definitely worth it.

4. I wouldn't catagorize it as a slip-up. It was intentional.
I have no idea why the staffer decided to pull the camera, but Powell understood how this would look! I wish I could have been the fly on the wall after the camera was shut down!

Powell did a fairly good job at restraint when he said bring the camera back.. you could hear the slight testiness in his voice then, but I'm sure that it wasn't slight when the sound was gone!

5. YEAH I DONT BLAME POWELL
It must suck to be a eunuch. In all fairness it was his press people that did it, and they didnt even need to. russert was just about to ask his LAST question. I didnt not hear that story anywhere today, you know that if a dem did that they would be all over him

7. You're correct. It was not Powell.
Just listen to the tone in his voice when he admonishes Emily to go away.

I'm no longer a Powell fan, but he is more than capable of handling any question, and he was pissed at his assistant for acting like she was following Cheney's instructions, which she was probably doing.

Powell is a puppet, for sure. But he cut the strings when this debacle started. Credit him for that.

9. You are defending a liar now telling you he was deceived.
Do you believe him?

I don't.

Why should I?

I don't buy these 'theatrics' either. He was theatrical the last time he lied before the world.

Why should I have any respect for this man? Even if he had been 'deceived' regarding WMDs (which I do not believe for one instant) all the more reason to have no respect for him. I was NOT deceived--and it isn't because I have better 'intelligence' than does he. None of their information sources were credible; they made SURE of that.

6. did you hear McCain joke about it afterwards?
I don't recall it exactly, Russert asked him about being JK's running mate, and McCain joked that he wished he could turn the camera off too

8. Actually
McCain mentioned the "palm tree," something like, "I wish we could go to the shot of the palm tree now."

Heh heh. That was funny! :)

11. I saw it
Russert was crushing Powell throughout the whole interview. It was like the camera was pulling back and pack and Powell looked smaller and smaller as a person the more he tired to justify his lies and deception.

It was the question before that last that I guess finally made the lady try to cut and run. Powel admitted what Bush wont - that the whole thing was a mistake based in deceptive - sometimes intentionally deceptive information from Curve Ball - Achmed Chalabi.

12. Question: Do interviewees know what questions they'll be asked
in advance? You know, to prepare and have a coherent answer ready? I would assume as much.

If so, that sort of explains the press agent's timing. She knew just when to cut the dialogue off.
