Atrocities in Iraq: 'I killed innocent people for our government'
Edited on Mon May-17-04 12:17 AM by rumguy

" For nearly 12 years, Staff Sgt. Jimmy Massey was a hard-core, some say gung-ho, Marine. For three years he trained fellow Marines in one of the most grueling indoctrination rituals in military life - Marine boot camp.

The Iraq war changed Massey. The brutality, the sheer carnage of the U.S. invasion, touched his conscience and transformed him forever. He was honorably discharged with full severance last Dec. 31 and is now back in his hometown, Waynsville, N.C."

snip

"Q: You fired into six or ten kids? Were they all taken out?

A: Oh, yeah. Well, I had a 'mercy' on one guy. When we rolled up, he was hiding behind a concrete pillar. I saw him and raised my weapon up, and he put up his hands. He ran off. I told everybody, 'Don't shoot.' Half of his foot was trailing behind him. So he was running with half of his foot cut off.

Q: After you lit up the demonstration, how long before the next incident?

A: Probably about one or two hours. This is another thing, too. I am so glad I am talking with you, because I suppressed all of this."

just in time.

I know a young Marine who is very shook up about shooting an innocent civilian by mistake (he was severely wounded but didn't die). He told us he has had enough of the "gun club" and is counting the days before he gets out.

2. This sickens me.
That says it all. Aren't we great liberators? No wonder Bush is offering reperations. What do we offer our kids who were put in this position by Bush?

5. Thanks for the Post..Hopefully we will start hearing more from the ...
...soldiers with a conscience that are over there and who will report back with honesty about what is happening.

I'm so sick to my stomach about what our sons and daughters were asked to do by this administration....

6. “We would defecate on and run over dead Iraqi bodies.”

This lovely quote from another article on both Massey and another Marine who is speaking out:

http://www.drudgeretort.com/discuss/viewTopic.php/13588

I just did a google on Jimmy Massey and found this. What exactly is the Drudge Retort?

On edit, I see that the article quoted above is actually FROM a real article listed here:

http://www.chronogram.com/chronogram/roomforaview/index_2.html

"The 23-year-old Marine quoted earlier agrees with Massey. “One day, I watched as the Marine Corps pushed the bodies of 47 Iraqis into a mass grave with a bulldozer. I don’t know if they were civilians but they looked like it because some of them were wearing dress shoes like loafers. Our sergeant was looking for bombs with metal detectors. Then he went out on the bodies and picked them for jewels and money. He also took their IDs and sold them to Marines for trophies to show off when they’d come back to the us.”

8. These are exactly the same things the Nazis did to their victims.
Wantonly kill groups of people, loot the bodies, mass graves, bring home trophies. They have the Hitler playbook down to a tee. This is just sick and depraved behavior.
