NPR reported today that US military tried to limit RC visits.
I haven't seen anything about this here...maybe I missed it, but NPR reported this morning that the military asked their lawyers to send the Red Cross a letter limiting their prison visits to those scheduled in advance and approved in advance. I guess there is no question that we knew just how awful we were, is there?

PS. I have not heard this reported in any other media today.

2. I agree but isn't that like an admission of guilt?
No only did we know there were abuses but we tried to cow the RC to cover them up.

3. Did they point out that is what Saddam tried to do during inspections?
Edited on Wed May-19-04 06:37 PM by lovedems
He wanted the inspections "scheduled" in advance. It meant (according to team *) he had something to hide or things that needed to be moved. Just like Saddam we had to hide the prisoners or move them to a different location. It didn't work for Saddam and it shouldn't work for *.

No wonder the Iraqi's are pissed. They probably don't see a difference between democracy and dictatorship.

Edit: To be clear to all the lurking freepers, I am not defending Saddam.
