Tell Encore Promotions how you feel about them recruiting kids 4 the Army
Edited on Sat May-22-04 12:57 AM by republicansarewhores
A friend of mine in promotions was solicited to do some work RECRUITING 17 to 24 year old "candidates" at LA Avengers games for the U.S. Army / NRHA.  My friend was so disgusted by the concept of a promotions group trying to market the Army to kids to do Bushco's dirty work, that she fired off a letter to them and got a response from the President of the company within 20 minutes (and on a Friday night at 10:00 no less.) I think we should all contact Larry Hess and Heather and express our opinions regarding the blood money they are earning by selling young kids on the glamour of joining the armed forces right now, I wonder how much these neo con WHORES get for their Army contract and every kid they get to sign up? Probably more than the kids families will get in death benefits when they are shipped back in body bags (and without media attention.)

Here's a description of the Army / NHRA Program and the correspondence between my friend and Encore Nationwide.

Enjoy-

RAW

What is the U.S. Army / NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) program?

The U.S. Army/NHRA program is an interactive event that is specifically designed to create awareness for the U.S. Army while generating excitement and interest among its target demographic (17-24 year old candidates).   Visitors have the opportunity to visit various interactive elements (24? rock wall, 2, game kiosks, a motion simulator & laptop sweepstakes) and receive free premium items such as Army/NHRA dog tags, Army hats and Army mouse pads.

The Y.E.S. Program runs on the Friday of every event weekend. High school students are addressed by U.S. Army and NHRA personnel on various topics including U.S. Army and NHRA career opportunities.  Every student that attends the Program will receive U.S. Army branded premiums and will have their hand stamped to allow participation in the interactive area on the midway.

Dear Heather,

What do you think about you yourself making money (I KNOW you are getting a commission or a paycheck through this company) and then your promotions people making money off of the army?  Off of helping to enlist men and women to go to Iraq and die for Bush's Oil?  Have you even thought of that?  Do you even care?  Do you even know who Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rove are??? I doubt it - otherwise you would not have taken this job with your company and promoted THE ARMY of all things at a time like this that our country is in.  Do you have children?  How would you feel if you had a son and he went to a super fun event like this where he got to play quarter back challenge and win a prize... and then he came home (after much brain washing at his super fun event) and announced - hey - i think signing up with the military is a great thing to do right now! mom, dad - I am enlisting and will most likely come home in a body bag or missing a limb or two - if i come home at all.

You should be ashamed. How do you sleep at night? Are your promo people dumb 19 and 20 year olds that have barely a clue as to what's going on outside of American Idol and The Bachelor?? Have they thought about what they are doing for the big sixty eight bucks they will make on Sunday May 30? Talk about blood money. You people should wake up. Read news sources- watch something other than FOX news. take a look at what is going on around your world..I can't WAIT to read your reply, if you are brave enough to respond.

Dear Theresa Heinz,

I want to thank you for your completely one-sided opinion, of which by the way you were never asked.  What I think is really ironic about your little soap box stand that you have chosen to voice is that you call us out as not brave enough, but yet you choose to hide behind a made-up e-mail address which is un-traceable.  Stand up for what you believe in and make yourself known and tell us your real name and how you got the original e-mail.

If you were truly this upset, a rational person would simply reply that I am not interested in this promotion because of my political views and move on with their lives.  Possibly even getting involved locally or regionally in some sort of way to help further your own cause or opinion.

Listen the bottom line in this is you are certainly entitled to your opinion.  It is the right and part of the freedom that being American affords, that allows you the freedom of choice (a choice by the way that was hard fought in winning wars probably by your ancestors).  However, your stand and your pathetic guilt trip to a person and a company who is simply doing their job is ridiculous and a pathetic attempt to make yourself feel self important.  WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE ANYONE?  Just like you have a right to your opinion, we have the right to ours.  Ours is of course is to do a good job for our clients and in that scenario it is getting professional staff out to an event.

Whether we agree with you or not is irrelevant.  What bothers me about people like you is that you feel so small and un-important that you feel justified in trying to tell other people how to feel.  You are so ignorant and need to be told how to feel, that you must think everyone is like that...when the majority of us can AND make up our own mind.  The real truth is you are probably just regurgitating information that you have read or heard and truly have no opinion of your own.

In the future, please keep your opinions to yourself.  Racial, political or religion based comments have no place in business.  If you decide you want to voice your opinions you should do it in a forum that may actually produce a result as opposed to an Event Marketing Staffing company.

You can feel free to call me anytime.  MY numbers are below....if YOU are brave enough.

Sincerely,

Larry E. Hess

Hi Larry!

Geez, I must have touched a nerve to get the President of the company to type out a letter this long on a Friday night! Enjoying your blood money?

About how I got the original email:

Well, how do you think?  I work for you.  A LOT.  It came to me in my regular little email inbox and I was compelled to see if Heather had a conscience.  And you will never know who I am.  Won't THAT drive you a little bit nuts?

Every time you book someone on a job, just think from now on, it might be me!  I am anonymous because I will submit myself to jobs to make some cash that I feel are harmless and won't potentially sway someone into making a decision as serious as giving their lives for an illegal war.  Working on promotions like Dove, Gilette and Glamour are totally different from recruiting kids to go waste their lives in Iraq, as Bush & Co. are clearly gearing up for the 100,000 or so troops that will continue to go over there to mop up his mess over the next few years. And I am very involved locally and starting to be involved regionally.  I just had to see where you guys were on this issue and didn't want to hurt my chances of being booked for other work.   Such is life, a girl's gotta eat.  But at least my groceries won't be bought with the army's money.

Have  A Great weekend!!
