"Progressive" can also mean proceeding in steps...
Most of us like to call ourselves progressive, I think, because we believe in moving forward toward a better society, utilizing new ideas where appropriate and being innovative and ready to accept change. But there is another connotation which resonates with me, and that is that progressive can also mean proceeding in steps; continuing steadily by increments. We should keep this in mind. Yes, we'd all love to snap our fingers and have the changes we desire become reality right away, but that is not realistic. Sure, some candidates aren't as "progressive" as we'd like, say like Paul Wellstone, Ralph Nader, or Dennis Kucinich. But let's keep that other meaning of progressive in mind. We need to build a movement here. Whether you like Howard Dean or not, you have to admire what he is building and how this can help us all in the long run.

I'm not endorsing anyone here specifically, just pleading for unity. Let's keep our eye on the big picture and move forward, one step at a time. The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.

Just a thought I wanted to express...

From Dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=progressive)

pro·gres·sive ( P ) Pronunciation Key adj.

Moving forward; advancing.
Proceeding in steps; continuing steadily by increments: progressive change.
Promoting or favoring progress toward better conditions or new policies, ideas, or methods: a progressive politician; progressive business leadership.
