Predictions on dropping out
Braun will before the end of the year. Possibly even in September or October.

Lieberman will drop out in November or December, and definately after Iowa if he makes it that long. The rest will stick it out depending on how the rest of the campaign goes.

1. I agree on Braun
The way I see it is Clark will jump in when Braun goes. There might even be an agreement to this effect, but that is my own speculation.

Lieberman will be there for the long haul, he is counting on winning primaries in February. If he does exit early, that will be the month he goes.

I would guess Kucinich will be the next to go after Mosley Braun.

2. Kucinich is in for the long haul
Why would he drop when his campaign is just now picking up speed?

When people hear his message they respond. His message is being heard, and appreciated, all over the country.

7. That would be WAY too late
I agree with what the former gov of Texas said on Larry King today - he's not getting in, and he's waited too long at this point.

16. Loserman will quit when Rove says he can quit
and not a second before. He is there to carry the neo-con banner and inflict as much damage on the democratic party as he and Rove can muster.

4. Dean will drop out for the good of the party
When Clark enters the race Dean will drop out and put his money and support behind Clark for the good of the party.

12. USA TODAY: Clark seriously considering a presidential bid 2003-06-20
Clark told hundreds of municipal officials from around his home state that he was seriously considering a presidential bid next year and would decide in a couple of months.

13. Here is what I think
Edited on Mon Aug-11-03 11:43 PM by jiacinto
CMB, Sharpton, Kuchinich, and Lieberman will be the first to go. They could very well drop out by Iowa. If they stay after Iowa then they will be gone soon after.

Gephardt will probably drop out if he loses Iowa. If he wins there then he'll probably stick around until Super Tuesday.

Graham, Edwards, Kerry, and Dean will probably fight until the end, which probably is right after Super Tuesday.

17. Edwards goes first.
He has a very close reelection campaign for Senate, trails miserably in Iowa and New Hampshire, and isn't doing well on his own turf in South Carolina.

22. Braun will be first
Edited on Tue Aug-12-03 03:11 AM by RatTerrier
I do think Clark will enter the race around Labor Day weekend, or shortly thereafter.

He is not waffling. This is strategy. Enter at a time when people can actually take notice of it. Why enter now and be 'just another Democrat'?

Braun will drop first, followed by Edwards (lack of support/experience, and drowning in a sea of candidates kills him).

Graham will be next (anyone know if he plans on running for Senate?)

Gephardt and Lieberman will fizzle in the primaries. Gephardt runs for his house seat.

Kucinich will also go, so he can run for his House seat (assuming he still wants it).

Sharpton will also fizzle out, due to lack of support and money. But he'll stay as long as he can.

Dean, Clark and Kerry will go the longest. If Clark runs a solid campaign, he can easily get the nomination, provided Democrats can unite behind him, and shake off the 'General' stigma.

I do doubt that Dean will get the nomination. Nothing against him, because I actually like him. But just because he's getting all the attention now does not mean a thing. And he would get killed in a general election against Bush. Remember, the early front runner in the '92 election was Paul Tsongas. Lost to a late arrival named Bill Clinton.
