Some guy on PRI (public radio international) yesterday
was discussing the NeoCon strategy in Iraq, etc. He described PNAC as a bunch of rabid idealists who are so enamored of their "plan" that they are unable to make realistic judgments. That was the first explanation of this insanity that makes any sense. The concept of "fuzzy headed idealist" has been used to label radical left-wingers for so long, it never occurred to me to apply it to the right. (Since the term was coined by the right, I should have suspected.) But if you look and PNAC / BFEE in terms of a group burning with zeal in their moral and intellectual superiority, such that they believe they are incapable of making a mistake, all this insanity makes some kind of twisted sense.

My winger brother took great pains to explain how he was undeniably my moral superior, but at the time, I just blew it off as stupidity. Is this part of the indoctrination?

A Heritage Foundation talking head and a couple of right-wing apologist journalists got all frothy mouthed about his statement, thus validating his claim. It was an eye opening experience.

"Never attribute to maliciousness that which can be explained by stupidity." -- Anonymous

Anyone catch the introduction to this piece? I'd love to learn more about this guys ideas.

1. So few people know about the PNAC
it's amazing and scarry. I mention it whenever I can.

2. Sorry I missed it.
I am also enjoying PRI much more than NPR.

3. The wheels are coming off
Last week Bill Kristol called Iraq a "mess" so apparently there is dissent within the ranks.

I'd love to hear your brother's reasons why he's your "moral superior". You should be able to toast him on that one.

5. Duh!
He's my moral superior because he's a Christian!

And as for toasting him, I've learned that only the things he wants to hear are true, and no evidence or proof is valid or acknowleded.

Kristol was on the same program and backpeddling for all he was worth.

4. When was there ever a strategy other than
beat the hell out of them, put a bunch of friendly Iraqis in power, and if that doesn't work, beat the hell out of them put another group of friendly Iraqis in power ......

6. Hard right conservatives are much more unrealistic than....
us wacko liberals. They think, for instance, that if you just deny teens
access to information about sex, they won't have it. Yeah, that works!

Their ideas a based on a simplistic view of the world and often on very
little real-life experience, and the urge to eliminate that which they don't
understand.
