US bases attacked after US forces strike at suspected guerrillas
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/030812/1/3dbl8.html

Tuesday August 12, 11:26 AM

Huge explosions rocked a US military base west of Baghdad, several hours after US troops raided two sleepy villages where they suspected pro-Saddam Hussein guerrillas were hiding.

US officials announced the death of a US soldier, killed when assailants hurled a grenade at a police station he was protecting late Sunday in the town of Baquba, 66 kilometres (41 miles) northeast of Baghdad. Two other soldiers were wounded in the attack, US Army Major Josslyn Aberle said.

At least 57 US soldiers have now been killed in guerrilla-style attacks, while another 60 have died in non-combat incidents since the White House declared major combat operations in Iraq over on May 1.

No casualty toll was released after six powerful explosions shook a US military base in Ramadi, 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of Baghdad, late Monday as mysterious assailants fired on the compound.

3. That's a pretty HUGE event
Think the American media will interrupt their Arnold love fest for a moment? It doesn't look like it will be under control any time soon either.
