New Bush photo from biking accident
That's a nasty-looking scrape on his chin. Yet he still manages to muster a goofy grin for the camera.

Bush suffered minor abrasions after falling off a mountain bike while cycling on his Texas ranch on Saturday, the White House said...'He had minor abrasions and scratches on his chin, upper lip, his nose, right hand and both knees,' White House spokesman Trent Duffy told reporters.

12. You have to actually try hard to mess up your face so bad
what an idiot. Was he wearing a helmet?

16. A helmet and a mouth guard
and his 24 hour MD was with him.

Yeah, that was one heck of a fall? He even got his neck.

Funny thing, some of the marks on his face appeared a day or two before the accident.

2. I get the nose, even the chin... but how did he get the scrape just
above his top lip? Looks like it almost takes a bit of talent in the clumsy department to accomplish this feat.

5. I've been trying to figure that one out
It looks like the scrape is on both the top and bottom of his nose, too. ???

What sort of fucked reaction times does a person have to have to not instinctively turn their head to the side -- even a little?

7. I've had the same thing happen to me
And I've the scars to prove it (though I bet I was going quite a bit faster when it happened). Often beginning cyclists are too scared or too slow to turn their head away until they hit.

3. Little Bush boy fall off his bicycle and get a big booboo? Boo hoo.
This is like the Picture of Dorian Gray after the devil took back his part of the deal. Once a bloody snot nose, always a bloody snot nose.

6. it must hurt for him to smile
or even to speak. This will only make it harder for him to speak since the injuries are to the facial muscles that control the mouth. He'll sound even dumber than usual when he makes his speech.

... is that facial expression. It's like a kid, flauting his "boo-boo" with mischievous pride.

That's the level of "man" we have running our country.

10. "Chokes on Snacks"
His Indian name. Bestowed upon him by a wise, old Cherokee, living off the land in Crawford.

(It is also reminiscent of Ms. Chokesondick from South Park)

After both the "pretzel" (whatever) incident and this "bicycle" (whatever) incident, Junior looked very hung over for a good day or more after. Am I wrong?

those injuries to his face hand and knee happen if he was on a bike?
This is a strange story.

19. Considering the scrapes on his face
How come there isn't more bruising and swelling? He should have ended up with a pretty fat lip and even a chipped tooth?

It looks more like some kind of weird skin condition? Or maybe it's his inner reptile trying to escape?

21. Look at the location of the abrasion on the chin. Even if he went head
over the handlebars and hit the ground chin first, his excuse for the wound is theoretically improbable. First his helmet would have deflected the contact between his chin/face and the ground. Next, he would have had to fly over the bike with his chin jutting out, like his head was tilted backwards. Finally the abrasion looks symmetrical, not more on the right or left side. I've fallen off bikes since age 6. None of them were so centered, so even, and so well-represented on the chin in general.

23. I just remembered a baby
Edited on Mon May-24-04 04:47 PM by DoYouEverWonder
that we treated in a high risk clinic that I worked in. The baby had been exposed to herpes when she was born and about a year later she got a major case of it all over her face.

It sort of looked like this:

Now look a W's face. Some of the sore comes from inside the right nostril. Another sore is spreading over his left lip. The picture below shows a smaller sore over his left lip and one on the tip of his nose a week before the 'fall'.

I think W has facial herpes.

25. What does a helmet's chin-strap look like? (re: symetrical)
Serious question--I've never worn a bike lemet and I don't know how the strap could behave when you hit the helmet part

26. It goes 1-1/2 to 2 inches from the edge of your chin, around the periphery
The strap is supposed to be loose enough so you can breathe and swallow but also to firmly hold the helmet on your head.

28. It looks like he fell stepping off a curb.
When my sister was a teenager she was a little loaded after a kegga and she fell off a curb right onto her face and suffered similiar road rash. If the Shrub fell off his bike and landed on his face it would appear that his movement stopped right on impact with no further movement.

29. He was right about those potholes!
Maybe he sacrificed himself to publicize this underrated danger of concern to us all.

(Note a DU thread about Bush's stump speech always including "pothole" references lately.) Maybe it was a premonition of catastrophe. Too bad it never helps him.
