Needing a quick Kerry Sign Resource For a Bluegrass/Country Music....
Festival. My neighbor is Dr. Ralph Stanley, he is a Bluegrass Musican. Every year he holds a festival and people have been coming in all week. The festival is for Labor Day weekend.
The Problem...
I have called both my local Democratic offices to get some Kerry signs so I could get them out in public view. They tell me they don't have any. One lady said she 'thought' she had some buttons but not even sure of that.
I don't have much money to buy them, does anyone know of a site I could get them cheap or free?

Thanks for any help in advance.

5. since it's a republican state
i don't think the campaign has much resources there. with limited resources they have to focus on states he actually has a chance of winning. but you can buy kerry items from places like kerrygear.com .

6. Your right it is Very Republican, I try to talk to people all the time
and I see it being more open right now to a Democrat than ever before.

The Festival usually brings about 3-5,000+ over a weekend.
I think more this year because of his music in 'Cold Mountain' and what ever country singer he has scheduled come in. It seems a shame to waste a good oppurtunity. I will just have to do some more
looking into it. Thank you anyway.

2. That seems to be a hallmark of the kerry campaign
no organization.

:shrugs: He must not want to win.

10. Yeah, Kerry, what the hell ya doing?
There is someone in WV who needs a $100 dollars worth of signs and there ya go ignoring them!

In fact, JK, every one of the 100 million Dems needs signs. You should just drop what you are doing and get to making signs, damnittalltohell. </sarcasm>

Signs, signs, everywhere a sign, messing up the scenery, blowing my mind.

7. Have you tried the John Kerry website?
www.johnkerry.com/

There are signs, etc., to buy under "Kerry Gear". Downloads of signs, etc., are also available. There might be more detailed information of local resources--contacts can be made.

Something handmade might work, as well.

And--did you say your neighbor is Ralph Stanley? The Ralph Stanley of The Stanley Brothers? The one who sang "O, Death" on the "O Brother" soundtrack?

15. He is a very ordinary neighbor. Truly, if you didn't know he was..
Edited on Tue May-25-04 10:46 PM by myday38
famous, you would never dream it. Recently he signed a contract with RCA and has probably lived the role of being famous now more than ever. But until the last year or so, he lived in a very ordinary home. My father is his cousin and like so many of the older people here, either went to school with him, grew up him or new his family. I just don't think of him as being famous.

16. Well...
I really only see him around here, pretty typical stuff. His family is very tight knit and he is very quite.

9. "the" Ralph Stanley??
Oh my goodness!

You can make a quick "weather proof" sign using clear contact paper, cardboard and chopsticks/tomato stakes to hold it into the dirt. If you have a printer you can download them here-

11. OT, but here I go anyway!
Dr. Ralph has seen a few upheavals in his time--what do you suppose he thinks of the way his country has gone in those many years?

O Death?

12. Before You Go Looking for Signs
I'd ask the good doctor if he minds seeing the festival politicized.

14. Ralph is a Democrat, however, the signs are for my land and for...
the private land of people that live near the fair grounds that I know will let me place them their. I haven't asked him, because I wouldn't put him in that position of alienating any of his fans.

24. Yeah you got the right Idea. I want anything that says ...
No More Bush/Cheney. Your "86 the W" is good or "In Bushes Hide Snakes" "Send Bush Home, better yet Send him to IRAQ!"
"YOUR vote counts, make GWB a One Timer", etc., etc.,.

And anything Pro Kerry.

21. You've got one cool neighbor
I'm a big fan of the Coen brothers' movies, and "O Brother Where Art Though?" is one of my favs.

I really enjoyed Mr. Stanley's contribution to the soundtrack.

26. Dr. Ralph Stanley
Dr. Ralph Stanley is not a Bluegrass Musician, he's a damn Bluegrass Institution!! Somebody gotta get this man a sign!

If you want to see Ralph at his finest pick up a copy of the "Down From The Mountain" DVD. Most of the songs and the original artists from the O Brother movie on the Ryman Stage. A great intro with Ralph riding into Nashville in a limo right to the Ryman Auditorium and then some terrific interviews.

Maybe he could sing "O Death" to Shrub after Kerry beats his ass...:)

Clinch Mountain Democrats...whodathunkit!
