strangely? Apologies if I am offending anyone, but I have been wondering about her speech pattern.

8. She's got a former Repube governor in her bed.
Jock McKernan - hardcore rethug, Olympia's husband.

And it would make us look like we couldn't win without a Republican on the ticket. Not the sign of a strong party.

Let's keep it in the family!

11. there is nothing extraordinary about Snowe and even less about Collins
Edited on Tue May-25-04 11:28 AM by Marianne
Snowe was all enthusiastic about the new Medicare bill and went about to senior centers in Maine, telling all the vulnerable seniors what a great thing this new Medicare plan was. Within a few days, Bush revealed an inordinate increase in the cost of this program.

Snowe is trying to reach Margaret Chase Smith status, but actually I have never thought her particulary astute or particulary intelligent. Watcheing her on CSpan has confirmed this to me.

Collins is just plain dumb. She got an enormous boost from Bush when she ran in 2002 agains Chellie Pingree, a far ;more intelligent and astute person than Susan.

They call them the Bobsey twins here because it seems they vote in tandem, although Collins voted yes on the recent vote that killing a fetus is prosecutable of manslaughter, thereby giving the fetus an already born status.

Both have been voting pro-choice, which probably contributes to their being known as "moderates"

14. she and other moderate NE repubs should form their own party...
they should bolt the national GOP, form a regional, NE moderate conservative party, joining Jeffords.

They would be the second party in the NE, so they wouldn't be a third party in the NE>

They would win seats, they would hold the balance of power in the Senate and in the House, and make it impossible for the crazy extremists who dominate the GOP now to run the show unhindered.

A moderate conservative party in the NE is the best bet. Not getting conservatives, even those who are moderate, to join the Democratic party.

21. NO! She can be ok as a Senator one day, and make me tear my hair out the
next.

Plus, she isn't a charismatic speaker, so I don't think she would leap at the chance.

22. She is 100% behind Bush
There was a DU thread here where she and Collins were at a Bush rally and they were wearing some stupid Bush t-shirt. She is a Republican with only a slightly better voting record than McCain.
