Abu Ghraib mispronunciation: Missing the obvious?

There is alot of speculation going on about as to why shrub would flub a name he should know,and why he would do it so badly three times.

To me, its possible that he may have just done it on purpose, especially after reading the essay "Ignoble Liars' in this months Harper's (GWB "and the philosophy of mass deception").

He did it on purpose as a subtle message to his base. Codespeak, as it were. Think about it: the right wingers dont give two craps about what went on in the prison. They cant pronounce the name either, they dont want to. But most importantly, they dont want a president who is ringing his hands over it, outraged. They dont WANT their president to be able to pronounce the name. They hear him screw it up and feel reassured that he is still their guy, no matter what else he says, he's one of them. Same-ol', same ol'.

His father purposely mispronounced Saddam. (SAD-em) instead of (Sa-Dom). It has been said he did it to piss him off.

Considering he also had trouble with prouncing most things that don't directly have to do with killing people.

Even today in his television interview he chose to say that Iraq having a democracy would bring the rest of the Middle East to Democracy.

I guess that's just so important considering Bush's stance on Turkey when they voted to not give landing space for the US without the UN.

Telling a Democratic country to 'vote again and get it right this time'.

5. That's interesting because when Chalabi got asked uncomfortable questions

on the Sunday Pundit shows he would bring his finger up to his nose. It was so obvious I thought he was giving hand signals to someone in the viewing audience as a code. The rest of the time when he was rattling on about what he was trying to get across his hands were not visible. It was only when questions about working for Iran or being involved with the neo-cons were asked that this happened.

The Chimp on the other hand has been caught up in so many lies, I think he can't speak straight. He almost looks "afraid" sometimes when he mispronounces a word, like his brain is trying to search but his mouth can't get the connection. Who knows :shrug:

...the others MAY have been intentional. But that first one was a definite speedbump. You could hear it in his voice (I was listening on radio)

Not to forgive him, but I've heard radio news reports & tv news reports that pronounce it different ways as well.

He should just stick with one pronunciation, even if it's wrong...like SAD-am (by his father).
