Eight replies to a thread on American dead/twenty one on peterose
That is fucking disgusting.
Eight people care enough to read and respond to the carnage in Iraqnam, and pete fucking rose is stealing attention away.
No fucking wonder we can't stop this fucking insanity, this will be the lead story tonight on the news.
A news story that should be in everyones face every day, that should be screamed about, that there should be millions in the streets demanding answers as to why.
Why was it so damn important to do an ilegal invasion of a foreign country, when most of the country ands rest of the world screamed no.
Why American soldiers are being killed and wounded each fucking day, why aren't they being brought home from Iraqnam.
We won't know because pete fucking rose is going to steal the headlines fuck pete rose, he can eat fucking shit and go away anytime.

2. I would suggest that even the most aware of us
need a break now and then. Not justifying it, just saying it's so.

3. agree to a point...
i think moreso the situation is that we see these same threads every day, and you can only say "they're dropping like flies" or "bring them home today" or something to that ilk so many times without it being redundant on a DU thread (not in the real world, they could use some of this knowledge). I just think that all of us appreciate the news, but lack any further insight into the situation to make a reply that could somehow shed some new light on the situation or be meaningful. IMHO

4. don't judge by how many people hit reply

There are different threads, every day, about the dead and dying in Iraq. You can't really compare the number of replies to one thread on the subject to one thread on Pete Rose.

Apparently, our soldiers are being killed by water rationing (heat stroke), and I am very angry about it, but I don't see every thread on the topic or make a reply to each post. It would be impossible.

I agree that what is happening is an outrage. A young man of 21, dead in his sleep, and not because he is not used to the heat, but because even a young man from Louisiana cannot tolerate extreme heat without sufficient water. And who knows how many others...must be getting close to 300 dead in this pointless effort.

Making posts here is good to keep all informed, but we need to also spend a little time writing to our representatives and letting them know that we continue to be concerned.

5. Give me a break
Hey, I read almost everything here and only reply to the tiniest amount.

What do you want us to say. Yes we HATE the carnage in Iraq.

But sometimes we want to talk about something a little more mundane.

I am tired of these damn posts critisizing everyone because we don't pay enough attention to whatever.

8. My nephew is in Iraq
and I don't think that I can bear to hear about our soldiers dying anymore. Feeling angry and hopeless is getting me nowhere. I am not burying my head in the sand, but I just can't comment on it.

If I were, I would be apoplectic. WHY DOESN'T THE AMERICAN PUBLIC CARE THAT OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS ARE DYING? Of course they don't! My God! Care about someone else?! How fucking unAmerican! I am beginning to hate this country and everything it stands for: Nonstop war; Genocide of entire races of people; Racism that has been bred into the bone against non-whites; That quintessential "The U.S. is always right" bullshit. I am waiting for the next clueless Repuke to spout the party line to me so I can dispel the myth of the wimpy liberal.
