Did Bush1 just attack Clinton physically?
I wasn't watching, but this was just posted on DailyKos:

Hmmm, I wasn't watching the WWII Memorial ceremony, but apparently there was a bit of jostling around. Reef the Dog reports in the Open Thread comments:
It was on CNN. Bush 41, 43, and Clinton were talking at the end of the ceremony. Clinton wagged his finger in Bush 43's face. Dunno what they were talking about but it seemed at least superficially cordial. Then Poppy suddenly shoved Clinton in the chest with both hands, enough to throw Clinton off balance. I don't know why, but it was completely inappropriate and almost seemed to me like 41 was trying to prove his manhood or something. I'm not even sure what happened after that, the camera quickly went somewhere else.

4. WHOA! My goodness!
Wouldn't surprise me though, they are all a bunch of arrogant "aristocrats" with mean and selfish tempers.

Clinton probably said something true -- that's enough to set a Bush off. OR, maybe he repeated what he said at the inauguration: "You must be proud of your son."

heh-heh.

20. I didn't see it either--switched to a Western as soon as the fake
cowboy came on--but your theory strikes me as the most likely. It may well be that Poppy was feeling real anger/agression but decided to make a joke of it, because he knew the Big Dog--twice his size and half his age (not literally true in either case, but you get the point) would clean his clock if he really tried to start something.

but that may have happened. They were very close together when they were talking because there was still music playing and I suppose they had to put their heads together to hear. It was kind of startling when Poppy did push Clinton, with both hands.

25. You could be right
Still, unless you're good friends with someone, putting your hands on him is pretty hostile. And Bush has clearly pushed Clinton to arm's length.

I wonder if Poppy was trying to argue with Clinton about * during Dole's speech. If he was, and Clinton ignored him and then said something snippy to *, that could push Poppy over the edge, I would think.

Clinton looks surprised - Bush looks aggressive.

You don't put both arms/hands like that on another person unless you are getting ready to embrace him or are pushing him.

I can't imagine them embracing for any reason.

Bush 41: "Hell, I sent 5 million American jobs overseas! Top that, you piker Clinton!"

Clinton: " You are minor league, George! I sent 5 million jobs overseas, and I imported 5 million third world immigrants to take even more jobs and lower wages!"

Bush 41: "You are a piker compared to my Dubya! He will wipe out 15 million jobs through outsourcing and immigration!"

Bush 41 then playfully pushes Clinton to make his point.....

42. EXCELLENT Question: How Would the Secret Service Respond
if two ex-Presidents (or even two Presidential candidates, anyone the SS was bodyguarding) tried to kill each other?

Say Ex-Prex #1 slugged Ex-Prex #2 and got a haymaker in return. Since the SS is trained to annul the threat by bodily stopping the aggressor, but is also trained to keep all attackers AWAY from their boy....

THAT would be a scrum to remember, you BET!
