7. I love it when repug goes down in shame
yyyyyiiiiiippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'll bet they will downplay his party affiliation though. If he was a democrat that would be every other word out of their mouths.

"In other new, Democratic Governor of CT, a member of the Democratic party is resigning from office because of Democratic party pressure on one of their own for abuses in office...probably in connection with other democrats of the democratic party."

10. Lt. Gov. Jodi Rell
I've heard she's more corrupt than Rowland. I'll be surprised if she makes it till 2005. BTW, she's a bigwig in the Ct. Bush-Cheney campaign. Hopefully this'll hurt the whole Republican party in the state.

Bush never had a chance here anyways, but we've got three 'Pub congresscritters. Hopefully it'll bring them down too. I hate Rep. Congressman Rob Simmons with a passion.

11. what's wrong with Simmon?
I've actually thought he was a bit more moderate than many non New England republiCONs?

But, I don't really know politics in that part of the state.

12. Not bad on local issues
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 09:42 AM by Peachhead22
Simmons isn't all that bad on local issues, but he's total Bush butt-boy/cheerleader. No objectivity or independence. In his eyes, if Bush said or did it, it has to be the greatest thing ever.

I've seen frequent articles in the paper where he's written or given a speech fawning over the Bush adminstration.

ROWLAND TO RESIGN

Connecticut Gov. John G. Rowland, for months the subject of investigations into alleged corruption in his administration and facing possible legislative impeachment, will announce his resignation Monday night, an administration source told The Associated Press.

The governor was planning to announce his resignation on a live television address to the state at 6 p.m., the source said.

Rowland, a three-term Republican who faces a federal corruption probe, has admitted accepting gifts but has denied providing anything in return. During cross examinations, his attorneys have portrayed the gift-givers as longtime friends and say the hearings have failed to establish evidence that warrants his removal from office.

Rowland challenged his subpoena to testify before the committee. On Friday, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that Rowland must appear.

13. I Think We Should
To a degree I think we should make an issue of this. We should ask the question if he did nothing wrong why is he resigning. Clinton said he did nothing wrong and fought. Later, we found he had not done anything that was worthy of impeachment. This guy's lawyer says that "the hearings have failed to establish evidence that warrants his removal from office". If that is the case why doesn't gov. Rowland want to testify before the committee.
