Wow - Ryan and Rowland in 2 days. Since stuff like this happens in 3s I am looking forward to tomorrow - maybe the Plame thing will break, finally!

. . .he still has not spoken to Judy Barr Topinka. She issued a statement saying this is the first she heard of the issues.

15. A reporter asked Ryan if he would flatly deny the allegations...
and he refused to. Ryan just blabbered on about staying the race.

I'm not sure how long Ryan will last.

10. Pass the marmalade...
he's toast. He lied to the leaders of his own party and thinks he can spin his story. These people are professional politicians and know utter bullshit when it's been fed to them.

He's out of the race within 72 hours (wait for on Friday when they take out the trash).

9. He just says the same thing over and over on these interviews.
He just want to protect his son; he's not going to get out of the race; all the leaders of the party support him; he did nothing wrong, etc etc.

. . .Edgar had given his support to Ryan before the documents were released and now Edgar's office is saying that what the documents said was different that what Ryan told him. Obvviously he was less than truthful with the former Gov.

does he look guilty? I want to protect my son. I want to protect my son. I want to protect my son. I want to protect my son. :eyes: Well, if you wanted to protect your son, you wouldn't have done those things to your wife! What a fool.

I think he knows he's finished.

He says the worse allegation would be that I propositioned my wife in a public place.... that may have been inappropriate. May have been an inappropriate place? :eyes: NO SHIT SHERLOCK!

It looked like you were using your son as an excuse to keep these papers sealed. Ha! Damn well better believe he was! Hahahahahaha!

Eric Zorn says he's hiding behind his son and HE IS! Ryan's gonna lose! Ryan's gonna lose! Ryan's gonna lose! :bounce:

It's a happy happy day! The repukes are self destructing and I LOVE it!

21. I Heard Jack Ryan on NPR This Afternoon
He was really downplaying his desire for public sex, saying he had broken no laws, hadn't cheated on his wife. But he did mislead his party and his constituents by implying that nothing controversial existed in his past. You can't convince me that Jack Ryan didn't realize the distaste with which this revelation would be met among the GOP and the citizens of Illinois. At the very least, he's guilty of poor judgment; at worst, he's just another repugnican lying sack of shit who preaches 'family values' while acting out his fantasies - a privilege accorded sanctimonious shitheels like Ryan.

32. A couple interesting points on Ryan:
I'm not sure just how much impact this will actually have on Ryan when I stop to consider the idea that a couple of weeks ago I saw a poll that showed 30 some percent of SELF IDd conservatives saying they were planning to vote for Obama. I'm wondering if his conservative base hadn't already jumped ship prior to this news hitting.

Second, I doubt that the Illinois GOP really HAS too many folks to run even IF Ryan drops out of the race. Edgar is tainted by his association with Kemper Insurance (do a Google search on that one if you want some interesting tidbits, btw.) Even the Illinois Leader (the Illinois GOP rag) has reported that Edgar didn't run in that primary because he's nervous about Kemper.

Jim Thompson may have his own dirty laundry hanging out there if any of the stuff linking him to Steve Neal's death is true, so I'm not seeing too many folks the GOP can bring up to run.

Topinka may be a possibility, but she's really not the darling of the conservative set--so who could they even put on the ballot if Ryan steps down?

This is getting really interesting to watch. I'm just grateful the Dems aren't in this situation...

39. I've not seen it in any mainstream media.
I'd not take this to the bank, but here it is off the internet:

"Neal was reportedly inquiring into what, if anything, the Bush Justice Department is doing in investigating the criminal role of Jim Thompson, former Illinois Governor, and for several years now Chairman of the huge worldwide law firm, Winston & Strawn and Thompson is a Hollinger official supposedly involved in supervising the auditing of the firm's funds.

A Director of Hollinger, "Big Jim" Thompson is accused of okaying or facilitating the huge misappropriations of Hollinger funds, of which Lord Black recently alleged he did not know about, yet he and his cronies pocketed the loot.

http://www.themedianews.com/DAGGER/Skolnick/Reporter%20death%20linked%20to%20Conrad%20Black%20%20%20.htm

Things that make you go, "Hmmmm"... When I heard that Bush had put Thompson on the 9/11 panel, I wondered THEN what they had on him--what made them confident they could control him. I dunno if this stuff holds any water, but it sure does make for some fun reading.

as CHAIRMAN of the 09/11 commission, Thompson's appointment might be just par for the course for the Bush White House. :-)
