It Begins | It Continues | three U.S. Marines were killed
http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2004/06/29/three/index.html

June 29, 2004  |  BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- A roadside bomb rocked a military convoy in southeast Baghdad on Tuesday, killing three U.S. Marines and wounding two others in the first fatal attack on American forces since they transferred sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government.

Footage from Associated Press Television News showed blood inside a slightly damaged Humvee and a flak vest laying in the road in the residential neighborhood. Iraqi national guardsman Sgt. Ali Muhsin said that three U.S. service members were killed and at least on wounded by the roadside bomb.

The U.S. military in Iraq later released a statement confirming that three U.S. Marines were killed and two were wounded. A U.S. soldier at the scene said the bomb hit the lead vehicle in the convoy and wounded or killed several American soldiers.

Meanwhile, Iraqi militants shot dead an American soldier they had held hostage for three months, saying the killing was because of U.S. policy in the Mideast nation, Al-Jazeera television said Tuesday.

3. I noticed that too. As was predicted to happen after the "handover"
No more bad news on tv.... Here is a round-up of the violence around Iraq today. I was going through photos on yahoo and learned from them there is another pipeline fire, an oil tanker on fire, and attacks on recruits waiting at the Iraqi Police station in Baghdad. The Kurds are having some troubles too...

Resistance attacks continue despite handover

Tuesday 29 June 2004, 9:23 Makka Time, 6:23 GMT

<snip>Earlier on Tuesday, the bodyguard of a Kurdish official was killed in a roadside bomb blast.

Major Ahmad al-Hamawandi, the head of police in the Kurdish district of Azadi in Kirkuk, suffered minor injuries when the bomb exploded as he was heading to work.

<snip>
Despite the early handover of power to a transitional Iraqi authority, attacks have continued unabated across the war-ravaged country.

One British occupation soldier was killed on Monday and two others were wounded when their convoy passed over an explosive device in the southern city of Basra.

5. "Bring it on!", he said.
Like all chickenhawks he is perfectly willing to sacrifice lives so that he can pretend there's something in his jockstrap.
