F911 not top documentary opener
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 05:40 PM by voice of reason
Apparently Jackass: The Movie (which both imdb.com and rottentomatoes.com have classified as a documentary/comedy) beat F911 by $1 million on its opening weekend.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/JackassTheMovie-1115355/numbers.php

oh well . . .

v.o.r

EDIT: actually I'm now finding conflicting weekend opener numbers for both films, some put F911 on top, others Jackass. I guess the funny part for me is I never thought of Jackass as a documentary. v.o.r.

2. LOL! If 'Jackass:The Movie' is considered a documentary...
...then Girls Gone Wild would also be considered one!

Are 'imdb.com' and 'rottentomatoes.com' considered to be the authorities on the subject of what is a documentary?

14. IMDB has misclassified it
Jackass is not a documentary.

And "Fahrenheit 9/11" beat it anyway.

I thought the F9/11 weekend take was revised
to upward of $23 million, which would still put it higher than Jackass.

Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 05:46 PM by mzmolly
$22,763,437 is the number garnered by Jackass,
F911 made 24 mil. :hi:

Adding: Jackass opened in 2,509 theatres, F911 in less than 900.

12. RT's figures
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 05:50 PM by charlie
For F911's opening is larger than Jackass's:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/Fahrenheit911-1133649/numbers.php

$23 million vs $22 million.

13. Nice try, but that's not a documentary.
I had never heard of it, so I looked at your link. It's nonfiction film, but it's not a documentary. It's described as slapstick. The definition of documentary film is one that is based upon documentation. That describes F9/11. Not Jackass. The latter is made-up comedy sketches performed by real comedians on unsuspecting real people.

Rotten Tomatoes' figures for opening grosses for both films have F911 coming out ahead.

17. You're making up numbers? or just using chimpy math?
Where did you find ANY source for that false claim?

The site you use gives 22,763,000 for your movie and 23,920,00 for F9/11. What exactly led you to conclude, or where did you hear, that 23 is smaller than 22?

Your edit now claims you are finding "conflicting" numbers. Can you point to those sites that support your claim?

18. numbers have been revised
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 06:17 PM by voice of reason
go to google:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=911+%2421.8+million

and look at all of the stories saying F911 did $21.8 million. This is what I was basing it on. I was unaware the numbers for F911 were revised up. That's why I made my edit (4 minutes after original post so as to clarify before a lot of replies hit). In fact . . there are far more stories saying 21.8 then the revised number.

As I also said in my edit, the thing that surprised me about all of this is that Jackass was being called a documentary - a point that all of you missed from my edit and then attacked me on in replies.

Every one needs to relax!

v.o.r.

EDIT: edited for stoner typos

19. Prove your claim
You say:

"EDIT: actually I'm now finding conflicting weekend opener numbers for both films, some put F911 on top, others Jackass."

Exactly WHERE are you "now finding conflicting weekend opener numbers for both films, some put F911 on top, others Jackass" ?

You first said the numbers showed your film higher than F9/11, then when that was proven false you claimed to now find "some" sites showing your film on top. Cite one.

20. chill
Look at the time of my edit(03:40) and look at the time of the first reply to challenge the numbers (03:43) - I self corrected before being challenged.

I knew the original $21.8 mill for F911, but was unaware of the the revision.

I was looking for some info on Jackass in google for a completely unrelated to F911 reason and noticed the numbers and the clasiification as documentary and thought it was funny.

What conspiracy are you chasing here?!?
