Chuck Boombs: Kill GTMO Prisoners in retaliation for the Baghdad Bombing
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 12:28 AM by SilasSoule
He co-hosts an afternoon talk-radio gig (Clear Channel's flagship station in San Antonio) was going off about how we should kill the GTMO detainess and stuff their bodies in hog carcasses - show pictures of this to IRAQI people to discourage future attacks. This was not some kind of comedic skit, he was serious. Listen, I know how sick this sounds but stick with me here because the really scary part was callers calling in to agree with him on this.

Apparently this guy is a comedian of some kind and former FOX sports guy? Must be having a stellar comedic career to be stuck doing this radio gig in a small media market. As I was Reading about the cognitive dissonace PeteNYC's thread about our assesment of Bush Supporters: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=199158 This boombs character and ther people calling in to agree came to mind, I really think some of the most rabid right-wingers are experiencing a severe case of this phenomenon. Boombs, himself on this show today admitted that he had snapped with unrelenting anger after hearing about the bombing, because they were a humanitarian/aid organization. I think as the quaqmire continues and intensifies in IRAQ, and with NO WMD's, Questions about intellegence etc. Many wingers will become more rabid and irrational such as this Boombs character. Brian Sweat, I think described it best in the above referenced thread:

"These people are heavily invested emotionally in the GOP and in George Bush. There is a stark contrast between reality and what they want to believe so they tune out reality. This is why they become more strident, the worse Bush looks. As the disonance increases, they will become even angrier until something snaps. Some may resort to drastic measures. Other will get a cold dose of reality and go into a political coma."

1. On that
Whenever a soldier is ambushed the freepers always rant about how American soldiers should retaliate by burning villages, rounding up civilians and staging mass executions to "teach the Iraqis a lesson".

8. wow, just like in Belgium...
where you can go to the cemetaries just outside little villages, and see the headstones inscribed "Fusilee a la Boche" (sp?) dated 1915, 1916, 1917, 1942, 1943...

(See Barbara Tuchmann's "The Guns of August")

Gee, it worked so well for the Germans didn't it?

2. I guess it must be tough
to get up one day, go to the bathroom to shave, look in the mirror and see the face of Hannibal the Cannibal staring back at you.

Dorian Grey destroyed the portrait.
He couldn't stand it.
it was too horrible to look at.

5. In other words, just the usual right wing facist blather?
Only it's been pumped up yet another notch? Do these people ever stop and think before they open their mouths? How embarrassing for them.

Thanks for posting the paragraph of analysis. It's getting scarier and scarier, and I'm getting bitchier and bitchier, so it's time to go to beddie bye. There are some days when I can't take reading about the nonsense coming out of the right anymore. It's just too ridiculous and sad.

Goodnight, everyone!
