How come they want to use oil "revenues" for the Iraqi people?
At least, that is what they say. Jim Hightower mentioned it this AM on C-SPAN also. And he asked, why would we expect them to use the oil revenues for the Iraqis when they don't even use the oil revenues in this country for Americans? Just think, we could probably pay for health insurance for all with the oil revenues??

But, the bigger question is, why do Repubs think Iraqis deserve all the "goodies" of government but Americans don't? And they want to spend money on Iraqi schools??

1. What I don't understand is
How can one country bomb another country back to the stone age with no legitimate cause and then be so arrogant to fund the entire crime with the wealth of the attacked country?

2. The repukes think Americans are so dumb
that they'll buy into this without realizing how illogical (and totally unfounded) it is.

Looking at all the U.S. has accomplished so far in Iraq - shock and awe followed by hostile occupation - I don't think the Iraqis are quite as gullible about the chimp's true motives - and our troops are paying the price.

3. Maybe cause
Contractors are getting the oil revenues in exchange for "goods" and "services" (rebuilt infrastructure-when/if that happens) at grossly inflated rates. The government might go with the lowest bidder but the lowest bidder is still overly priced for the services purchased. The question is, what companies are getting the long term contracts for the oil.

It isn't for the Iraqi people-it's to stuff the pockets of American businesses. With America in control of Iraqis resources, America determines who gets a share of them...say like..Brown/Root/Kellogg/Haliburton, etc.

That some must trickle down to the Iraqi people only helps to maintain the illusion of helpful nation-building ( but always in our image...and that's where the "catch" comes in)

5. Many of those contracts are awarded on a "no-bid" basis -- there's not
even the pretense of real competitive bidding. It's pure pay-off to connected insiders.

4. It's just more spin until the oil is totally sold to Bush's
friends. The people in Iraq are going to see very little.
