6. Why?
The Scouts are wrong and have every right to be so. This enables the government to bully organizations it doesn't like even if they exercise their rights to free speech or free association. Suppose they did the same thing to abortion clinics because, in that state, they opposed such activity?

7. did you read the article?
it meant that the Boy Scouts are removed from a list of charities that state workers donate money to in an annual charity drive. It doesn't infringe on their right to assembly or free speech, just means they aren't getting any state help in getting funding.

3. woohoo!
I'd like for the Boy Scouts to treated the same way a group like the KKK is.

4. As a former Scout....
I want to say I'm very distressed about their position. I got a lot out of Scouts, and I think it's a good institution generally. I hope they wake up.

5. True Story. The only known Eagle Scout in our High School
was also one of the only known gay males in the school. So I guess it was "don't ask don't tell" at the time.

8. This Follows the Logic of the Supreme Court's Scout Rulling
The Supremes had ruled that the Scouts could discriminate against homosexuals because they were a "private" organization.

Taking public funding transcends any "private" status and so the Appeals Court is taking the Scouts at their word...the word that they gave to the Supreme Court.

They set themselves up for this with their "private" organization argument and now they will suffer in the courts.
