Pictures of naked Iraqis at gunpoint were shared with Congress April 2003
There were several threads going on here at the time. I believe it was about April 26, 2003 that this came out from Amnestry International.

I know that I for one called Senators John Warner, Bob Graham, and Bill Nelson, and while their aides were on the phone I emailed a link to the pictures of the naked Iraqis in the Norwegian paper.

They knew, John Warner knew, despite his seeming disdain for the torture. The fact remains that they knew.

Here is the link to the Amnesty International article April 2003:

Here is the link to the Norwegian paper with the pictures still there after more than a year.

They knew. There is a thread here at DU with those who also called. I can not find it in an archive search. I have called back to these 3 guys and told their aides what we did last year. They all pretend to be clueless. Bill Nelson did write me back, thanking me for letting him know about Abu Graib. NO, Senator Nelson, I let you know of abuses and humiliations long before Abu Graib was known. Yet you play clueless about it.

Is anyone else outraged?

3. Just one kick for this.
Because it could have been stopped last year in 2003. Both parties knew of these pictures.

4. Derelection of Duty
All of Congress have been derelect in thier sworn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the USA for a few years now. They failed in their oversight of the Military and the budget. They ignored the system wide policy of torture and the secret US prisons due to their cowardice to expose the crimes of the Neo Fascists. America needs more than a change in Admin. It needs a revolution to overthrow the the Plutocracy.

5. Must have gone bananas on the Iraqi prisoners trying to get
them to "find" the WMD's so Smirky could prance around.

Disgusting and inexcusable.

6. There were several videos on the news in april 2003 showing that
Some how the fact that there was a ton of news video of Iraqis being frog marched around naked in outdoor holding pens by us soliders seems to have droped into the memory hole.

7. From the Memory Hole and the UK Mirror....sure disappeared.
http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/stripped-iraqis.htm

SNIP...."STRIPPED at gunpoint and publicly branded as thieves a gang of suspected Iraqi looters are humiliated by US troopers' street justice.

After being hauled before a kangaroo court, the men had the words Ali Baba Haram - Arabic for "dirty thief, he stole" - scrawled on their chests with a marker pen.

They were then paraded in front of a jeering Baghdad crowd before fleeing to safety.

The "appalling" affront to dignity outraged human rights organisations who say it broke the Geneva Convention which protects prisoners against "insults or public curiosity".

It fuelled Iraqi resentment at the US "occupation" of their country, provoked dozens of demonstrations and flew in the face of guidelines aimed at winning over the locals.

But the trooper allegedly responsible was defiant. First Lieutenant Eric Canaday of Delta Squadron's 10th Engineer Corps said: "I don't think this kind of action is excessive.

"We've done it once before to another man we found looting and it worked perfectly."
END SNIP

I am afraid Lt. Canaday may be the new face of America in the eyes of the world. How sad.

AND our congressmen knew....they knew.
